    6 ft Miss Budweiser hydro

New to forum. I'm trying to find out info on this hull. Got on a trade. It was gutted but apparently it did at on time have a gas engine. I want to make it brushless and have been searching for the right motor and esc. Would rather hear from the experts than waiste time and money on my own. 5 " rails. No marking on who built it or anything. Found a piece of wood in it while cleaning up the deteriorated foam. Any help would be appreciated.tmp_14778-IMG_20150908_213301137-1767638483.jpg

ProBoat did put out a big one but I think it was 4ft

I think I would start by seeing how many mah's you can squeeze in there. It is going to take quite a bit to get it up on plane. Geez I would think 20,000 would be a small battery bank. Maybe 12s and 20,000mah. A 600kv 2230 should do the job. ESC though, Mmm.

Im trying to stay under 1k. Depending on the motor size, I have space to line the inside with about 10 hard packs. I have no idea what size prop to use. I ordered 1/4" drive system hoping it will hold up.

1/4' drive will be fine shrop. With that budget a Castle 2028 would be the ticket. Can you fit any of those packs in the sponsons? And how many packs do you own currently and at what cell counts?

I can fit them 2 wide in the sponsors and still reach them. I have to leave room to replace the flotation foam.the rest I layed out on the outside rails as forward as possible. I currently have about 6 2s packs 5200mah and 2 3s packs. I would be buying fresh packs.

So, a car racer guy are you? That's cool. You may be best plugging 2s&3s together for fitment in there. If getting new batts that is going to put a huge hole in your budget. 4x 5or6s (decent quality) is going to take $500+. I would look into maybe a Swordfish 300lite and look around for a deal on a 2028, they can be found.

Yea I know. Been running around with the Spartan on 6s and that boat is a blast. May compensate some cost by selling some of the car stuff. $200 sound about right for 2028?

Didn't take too long to clean up. i don't think the boat was ever run. Can i get away with a fan cooled esc? The hull interior is so large and i have a ton of air flow due to intake.

You will have to plug that intake.
                          Boat should be air tight.
If or when it flips, you don't water running in through that intake.

                          Also plug that exhaust hole.

OP, I hate to break it to you but you are getting advice from folks who have zero experience with a boat like yours. In fact few FE folks anywhere do; some others not posting here may have successfully built a 1/6 scale boat but yours is 1/5 - much bigger. This is a build for an expert, not a relative newbie like yourself. Running an RTR around the pond does not make you able to complete this build successfully. If you do not understand the need to seal the hull, then you are not ready for a successful build.

While a cat or mono can at least get on plane with a marginal setup, hydros can be difficult to make run if the design is a bit off, if there is not enough power, or if the setup is off just a little. I can guarantee you that you will not be happy with the outcome unless you enlist help from those who have actually built large 1/6 scale boats. Plus there is probably a reason why we don't see this hull running much at all, it may be cool looking but be a poor design for available power. (Actually I seem to recall seeing this very hull in a build a year or so ago, either here or on another site.) It's your boat and your money, spend it as you like. You've been warned, I hate to see a fellow boater headed for failure. Whatever you decide, good luck.
