servo to use for 1/10 scale hydroplane

    Dear colleagues,

Currently I am busy looking for some suitable setup for a 1/10th scale hydroplane. There is tons of information on this forum about motors, ESC and LiPos to use, but only little about the servo. What type of servo is recommended?
    - digital/ analog
    - metal-gear/ plastic gear
    - weightrange 20 - 30gr or 30gr - 40 gr?

    Any information is welcome!

    Kind regards,

A hydro under 30" really doesn't require the speed, and torque of say a sport mono. Never the less always give yourself a little headroom. Speed, less than .20 / Torque, around 150/200 oz.-in.
Either digital, or analog will be fine. Metal gears ALWAYS! Your weight range, (expectation) is a little low.

If everything is set up properly, it doesn't take a monster servo to turn a 1/10 scale. Anything under .20 sec./60* and over 80oz. will be plenty. Reliability is key, use good quality servos and keep them dry. Plenty of room, use full size servos.

The Traxxas 2056 waterproof servo has been very reliable and seems to need no maintenance other than cleaning the servo connector for oxidation. Highly recommended.
