Before you even get to the esc question, you are going to be turning allot of rpm with that motor on 6S. I'm concerned with the amount of exposed flex shaft you have behind the collet in the second picture. I think the flex is going to whip around at that high rpm and possibly make a mess of your stuffing tube. What prop specifically are you considering. Blade pitch is just as important as diameter in terms of load on the motor. What motor are you running?

Whoa! Holy extra flex exposed batman! That's gonna make a mess I think. You need to.....

      1) move the motor close to the stuffing tube and shorten the flex to fit. I like about a 1/4" gap right there only to wipe grease off as it goes into the collet.
      2) you say you only have a 6s pack...well its time to buy batteries for this application, plain and simple. That's about 45k rpm with a 6s pack. Not safe unless your doing saw runs and bringing it in. If your driving the boat around, consider lowering the kv or voltage.

Thanks guys :) this Boat was bought from ebay so yeah, the motor is a 2700kv the esc is a 200a mistery esc and the original prop the boat came with was 47mm not really sure what pitch it was.
i do have a hobbyking 120a esc and a Aqurastar 620kv motor new never used, also in regards to running my 6s pack i kinda knew it wasn't the best thing and what i have done with my flysky transmitter is only allow for 50% throttle but i am yet to put boat in the water :)

Do not run any ESC at 50% throttle. It will build heat and get real hard on it.

There will be nothing wrong with the Mystery ESC as long as it doesn't get wet ( See Travis about this ).

And if you are sticking with 6s, run a motor In the 1400-1600kv range.

Awesome thanks slash I'll not run at 50% and will that 620kv motor be any good with that 200a esc, boat is 800mm long and feels kinda heavy.

Plug a set of 4000mAh 20c X2 2s pack and it only made that music sound and that's it servo works but no throttle but if I connect 6s pack everything works.

Check esc specs. It might not work with only 2cell

if that esc is like a flier/fightercat.....you need to seal the cooling block better. I've found they use a weal silicon to join the cooling block together and over time (ususallly less than 10 runs) the silicon starts leaking...dropping water onto the circuit board and letting the smoke out. 2700kv is way too high and 620kv is way too low on 6s to get any kind of speed.

couple more things...I know your new to this so...
DO NOT use a low C battery... under 40c is not acceptable in this size boat. I personally prefer a cushion and i use no less than 50c. better safe than sorry in that department.

You will need to program that ESC. Did you get instructions with it?

Thanks again guys, information flooding In I love it, yeah I know how to program the esc it was set to 6s cutoff by default, I will go back and re do it to 4s or maybe 3s as I have heeps of 3s packs. With that 620kv what esc and batteries recommended :)

Pitch of props i have are 40mm

                      There are four props in this set: P40 X 38mm, P40 X 40mm, P40 X 45mm, P40 X 47mm
The pitch of the props are: 40mm
                      center bore:4.8mm

That 620 is going to take some juice. 12s minimum, most likely more. 3s packs! You should get a nice 2650 kv 4082 motor to run then.

You could try the original 2700kv motor on 3s with the turnigy esc( as long as it's not a hv esc), it should work with that. At 800mm in length it may be best set up as a 4s boat. I suspect you will need to do a fair bit of work to to the boat, sponsons, strut setup, props, turn fin, cg etc to get it running fast and reliable. Also do away with that leaky radio box and modify the top hatch so that it is sealed and will tape down. Water mixing with electric parts does not go well. Is this a partially modified nitro version?
