Phil Thomas Sport 40 Hydro Roundnose electric setup suggestions

Friends, new member and new to R/C boating - looking for electric powertrain suggestions for the Phil Thomas Roundnose Hydro (38" long, 18" wide). Will be starting from scratch, so I'm open to any suggestions. Would like to race it, though not a ton of racing near me so it will be used mostly for pleasure.

The best thing to do would be send Phil a Email, He's awsome when it comes to helping people set up his boats! I have a 36.5" Stealth Prototype that he only built two or three of and he has helped me a bunch getting it set up.

Thanks FL, for the electric setup Phil suggested I poke around here for the latest. He has been extremely helpful and responsive.

Yeah I forgot about that, he's not that big into FE he's a Nitro/gas guy. Do you know what you want to run for battery power? 4s, 6s, 8s, ? On that big of boat I'd go at least 6s for a Q class boat.

I am not aware of anyone who had set up one of Phil's round nose hulls in FE trim. You're kinda on your own to get all of the equipment laid out in the hull. There are many that will help and give suggestions as you build.

          Later,

Thanks guys, based on what I've seen some guys do with PT SS45 hull which is similar in size (though I assume less aerodynamic) I was thinking a 15271y and 6S or 8S.

I'd go with the 1527 1.5D 1500kv because the 1Y 1250kv is not quite enough for 6s. I had the 1Y in my PT Stealth and ended up putting the 1.5D in it.

Thanks - may I ask what kind of esc you're running, temps (if you know) and run time? Appreciate the help.

I'm running a Swordfish 220 Pro Plus Data logger with two Hyperion 5000mah 45c 6s packs I get just under 5min run time @ WOT I'm still playing with props but so far the best has been a X648. I just got some V series props to try, because my 1/8 scale Hydro loved the V955 I put on it so I figured I'd try it on my PT Stealth Q Hydro I got a V942 and a V947
