    Factory ESC capabilities

Can the factory 60amp esc handle 5s lipo? I run 4s now but would like to run 5s occasionally.

I'm sure it could but I would recommend upgrading esc if you want to run 5s. Motor should hold up ok but you might smoke that esc.

The stock esc is a re-branded (and overpriced) Hobbywing Seaking esc. Awesome esc's and will handle 5s without any issues. The problem is the motor is 2000kv, that on 5s is getting very high on the unloaded rpms and will deteriorate the life of the motor. The esc however won't like the added amp draw from the motor at that rpm. I would advice against running 5s on the stock setup.

If you want to run 5s change the motor to a H3126 1600kv outrunner. It will drop straight in the stock motor clamp

Yea the stock motor is a Suppo outrunner (over-priced of course), but really nice motors. You can get them from Ben @ fightercatracing.com I like those outrunners a whole lot.

Thanks for all of the replies.

I do run the Octura x640 on 2- Hyperion 4200 35 c 2s batteries and it run strong and I just use it at the beach with my neighbors that run boats. I guess the faster speed might not be worth the the trouble and I really am not sure of the handling of this boat with my water conditions at that speed.

I do like the outrunner motor and it sounds cool-different the than the other motors.

I had this boat all tricked out, and in all honesty the boat is happy with speeds in the high 30mph to low 40mph range. The hull is just very very narrow it doesn't need much more then that. JMHO
