Your target rpm is 28k-low 30k unloaded. To get you rpm you would take your voltage in your case 4s would be 14.8 the multiply that by the kv rating and that gives you your unloaded rpm. For this hull you have choices, just depends the money you want to spend. Best bang for your buck would be leopard. You could get away with a leopard 4074 1774kv (i have this motor and love it) and a seaking 120 would be a nice setup for a good price. You could even run a leopard 4074 2200kv on a seaking 180 or swordfish 200. What are speed goals? A good honest setup would be the 4074 1774kv. Easy on the batts good speed reasonable amp draw and a good sport boating setup IMO... Either would work well but the 2200kv should be run on 2p IMO.... Or you could settle in the middle at the Leopard 2000kv... That also would be a good choice. -
or how about a 1512 1800kv??? Go with T180 esc that way you can move up to 6s if you want and is much better than the 120 amp. I'm sure you'll want to go to 6s after you get a taste................................i might be selling a 1512 1800kv btw, still thinking about it.Comment

I know that and each motor and I suggested can run 4s very efficiently and with good all around speed. I am aware that the 1512 can handle 6s, but running almost 40k unloaded rpm's, I'll pass on that.... I actually like my motor, therefore I will run where it is most efficient and which will prolong the life of my motor and that's at 4s. Speed to me isn't worth the loss of a motor and running at 40k unloaded it's not a matter of if it will blow it's a matter of when. Those are saw range RPM's and I don't run saw!Comment

Motor has yet to reach 100F and that run was on a CF48. Nice, fast and most importantly reliable! I have never had a issue with this motor running on 4s1p. The 4074 1774kv and 2000kv should run nicely on 4s1p on the 2200kv I would recommend 4s2p which is what I run on that motor. The only 4082 motor that would run on 4s would be the 4082 2200kv which would be a beast of a motor in this hull but I would recommend 4s2p on that.
For a easy break on reliable setups, maybe this will help:
Leopard 4074 1774kv: seaking 120 or swordfish 120, 4s1p
Leopard 4074 2000kv: seaking 180 or swordfish 200, 4s1p
Leopard 4074 2200kv: seaking 180 or Swordfish 200, 4s2p
Leopard 4082 2200kv: seaking 180, swordfish 200, swordfish 240, CC Ice 240 4s2p
* Their are many guys running the leopard 4074 2200kv on 1p setups and on 120amp esc's. I prefer the extra safety cushion off the seaking 180 or swordfish 200, just a personnel preference.Comment

I have a Leopard 4082 1500kv motor with jacket for sale in the swap shop.Runs excellent on 6s.I wouldnt be worried about running 6s on that hull.It can take it.It does need to be re-inforced though-for any voltage or kv.My friend has an Apparation (same dimentions as your hull) with a 1680kv 36-75 (540XL) on 6s and runs low 60's mph.Runs cool and runs 6s1p.Weight is not an issue. My twin EKOS weighed more than his by far.
Diesel is right about his points. It just comes down to what you want to do and how fast you want to go.6s will draw less amps than 4s,if you would be concerned about that.Comment

i think im going to settle on the 4082/2200, and t180 just 1 more setup id like to run past you guys and see what you guys think a t600 2200 outrunner and a t180, turning a 442? would this be about the same perf as the 4082 set up would it be better or worse and whyComment
