Prop recommendations for my set up please

    I just purchased a Leopard 4082 1600kv motor and a Turnigy 180A esc.

Which is the best prop for this set up on a Spartan? I'm trying to be in the 60mph range, the more the merrier.

Also I am pretty sure I should change the flex cable, any recommendations?

    Thanks

I hear the M445 is good for 6s with the OSE driveline...
Why are you bothering me? I want to see your boat!

Upgrade out of that factory crap... That's an upgrade within itself.

Try a .187 flex cable (larger diameter than stock) or a .087 wire drive from Jeff Wholt at rcraceboat.

You will need to change the coupler (collet) as well.

The .187 requires removing the teflon liner from the stuffing tube.

I noticed that when I float tested mine water came through the cable brass tubing... I did have grease but as soon as I regressed a bit water started filling the hull, and pretty quick! I have the OSE high power cable system if it matters.

In theory water should not come into the boat through the stuffing tube, because the tube should be above the water line at the motor/coupler end.

Unless your boat is very heavy (large batteries, gps, etc etc) and it sits low enough in the water that the stuffing tube is below the water line.

Or, in rough water when the boat "bobs" down, the hull could temporarily go low enough in the water for the stuffing tube to be below the water line.

I am running stock lipos for now, it was in the bathtub test float when it happened so I might just have to play the sink or swim once I am running again... I must note that I was using some stock grease when it happened something thicker may work better.

This may give you some insight to what is going on,
It happens on most boats and we do the inside fix and sometime we need to do both.
I also use blue marine grade axle grease on all my boats.

I got the .187 flex from Kintec Racing and love it.

Re: the OP's original request for prop suggestions.

I have been running a P220 on that same setup for three seasons with no issues.

I experimented with other props, X447, X645, P225, and a three blade that was useless and don't recall the pitch and diameter of it.

I settled on the P220 because it gives good speed performance and not too bad for torque roll.

I never ran the larger diameter props long enough to know if they would stress the electronics long term. The larger props created a lot of torque roll.
