I am new to r/c boating and recently bought the spartan with the castle motor and esc. So far the boat has been a lot of fun. Running it on 3s 6400 and it does well. Do I really need to upgrade the cooling system to dual line as most everything I read says to. It doesn't really heat up at all so far. I have also noticed water in the hull. Is that from the cooling jacket on the motor, or is it from reversing too much, or is it normal ? Any information would be helpful. How far do I need to upgrade to make this a reliable boat?

You running it on 2x3s 6400 i assume? The stock water jacket expands at high speed due to the water pressure that will most likely be where the water is coming from, i would definently upgrade the jacket OSE has some and even HK has some not sure on quality. If your temps are fine i wouldn't upgrade to dual but if you start changing props it might be wise. How often are you reversing i would avoid that as you much as you can. If you stick with stock maybe just change to metal prop with same pitch and diameter i dont think you should need to do any upgrades. I have a spartan and only upgrade are 42x1.4 cnc prop, alloy jacket, trim tab adjusters runs 90km/h.What's life if you ain't having fun -
Got about 12-14km/h increase just from prop. It's cnc which is meant to be "precise" and balanced/sharpened. If you don't buy cnc props then yes you will have to sharpen balance, even some cnc won't be perfect. What's life if you ain't having funComment

I am having issues with the reciever. It got wet A few times but after drying it out it would be green light and go. Now it just blinks red and will not work. Lights on the esc are green and I have tried to bind it thinking it would help but no. Any suggestions??Comment

Are the cells good in your tx ?
Check them and than try to bind it again.
Also water will come up the stuffing tube of your flex shaft,
Make sure you grease it good after a day of running.
You can also make a water line seal for the stuffing tube to the flex shaft,
To help stop the water and grease coming out of it.Comment

Make sure you are turning the transmitter on before you connect the batteries to the ESC. I don't know why but the receiver doesn't recognize the transmitter sometimes if it's not on before connecting the batteries. I would go ahead and change the batteries in the transmitter as cheap insurance.Comment
