Sugestions Please

Hello,
I am running a stock spartan and am wanting to purchase some lipo batteries, any sugestions? I Have seen on you tube people running 2 11.1 5000mah, and also 2 7.4 6000mih, which would be better? Thank you

What are you using for batteries now? I would assume that's 2 2s lipos?

You may get varying suggestions about what type batteries to use. I use 3s 11.1v 5000mah, and 2s 7.4v 5000mah. If you use 2 - 3s 11.1v 5000mah, be careful not to exceed the stock recommended prop, 442X, 42X59mm. A larger prop will blow your ESC. Have fun.

With regards to setting the esc for lipo batteries, you may want to go page 16 of the manual. In there it says "To activate low-voltage detection" (lipo settings). Turn on the transmitter and hold the trigger to full reverse. While holding the trigger to full reverse, connect two fully charged batteries to the VXL-6s. Continue to hold reverse. After about ten seconds, the red LED will switch on. You will also hear a 'rising' musical tone. There is also instructions for factory defaults. Turn transmitter off. Hold both Menu and Set. Turn transmitter on. Release Menu and Set. The transmitter LED will blink red. Press Menu once. The transmitter LED will blink red twice repeatedly. Press Set to clear settings. The Led will glow green and the transmitter is restored to default. On page 17 it will show you the different modes. I wouldn't go training mode. Use Sport mode, or Race mode. Here again Turn on transmitter. Pull and hold the throttle to full throttle, connect two fully charged to ESC. Continune to hold the throttle at full. The red LED will blink once and the ESC will beep once. Release trigger. Race mode is about the same. Continue to hold the trigger full throttle. Let the red LED will blink twice, and the ESC will beep twice. Then release the trigger. Good Luck. Have fun. You are lucky, you can run your boat today. I live where the water is still hard ice. First off thanks for all your help,So I ran my boat today and it ran great it had a little chine walk but i bent the trim tabs down a hair and it solved the problem.But now I have another pretty serious issue. When I first got my boat i put foam tape under the hatch cover to keep water out but that doesn't really help at the stern because of the hatch cover design. I first ran it and i used reverse and got a large amount of water in it so i dried it out and put the esc in race mode (no reverse) all was fine when i ran it again no water inside. I then purchased one of those splash guards for the transom and installed it and caulked all the holes.When I used it today with the lipos in race mode (no reverse) after a couple of runs I checked it and it had a large amount of water in it. Any ideas.....I put it in the bathtub and have no leaking do you think it could be the splash guard at higher speeds pushing water up the back of the hatch cover or maybe a rear seal leaking at higher rpms? I am just baffeled, thanks again.

I have had three Spartans. Call me a bugger for punishment. I will not give in. The second Spartan I had always came back with a lot of water in it. I had a duel water pickup, and a single water outlet. Too much water coming in, not enough going out. Water was coming out the water tubing. I have never had a water slash guard. I can't think of anything else.

Check your cooling system

If you are running the stock cooling sleeve on the motor that is your problem the splash guard is not. When the boat exceeds 40 mph the pressure expands the rubber sleeve and they leak. I have had 4 spartans and the same problem with all of them. Put an aluminum sleeve on the motor and it will solve your porblem.

Good to know. Now that I think about it, the spouts on the stock water jacket seem to be a little lose. Thanks.

Thank you for your advice, after alot of research and frustration I will follow your advice. Do you know where the best place to get one at?
