My Hull is Hooked is yours? please post some pictures.

So after I ton of time and help from many of you my boat would never get up on plane. Finally someone said is your hull hooked? A light bulb went off and sure enough it was. I called Traxxas and sent them the pictures and they still want me to send the boat in. I just would like to see some other people post pictures of theirs to show me that they can make the hull right.

I had the same problem just on one side on the bottom. I sent it in and they wanted me to pay half of the cost of a new hull and I told them NO way and to throw it in the dumpster. After some wrangling they did send me a new hull that I sold. Then I used the motor and hardware on another boat. Overall there costumer service is very good.

yeah i fearing the worst. i would send them just the hull but they want it all so they can run it. problem is the stock receiver is toast one day I did not have any throttle when I pulled the trigger but when I turned the wheel both the rudder and the throttle would respond! I called Traxxas and all they said is wow that is odd. I am not going to send them my radio too.

From everything I've seen, the spartan is a clunker of a boat, and plastic.
Some have got them running good, at the cost of another FE boat. 600-700 bux later, they have an ok running plastic boat, yet people are still buying these. In the end, anything from aquacraft or proboat are better choices. And certainly 700 bux is enough to build a killer boat from scratch.

i got an email that Chilli had posted here.
(The hook may make the boat hard to get trimmed out and handle well but i seriously doubt it's the reason your boat will not get on plane. I'm afraid you have other issues that need to be worked out)

please see this thread post 15-27

          http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...H-still-!-!-!-!

this is the only thing left. you cant run at 24% COG 0 on tabs and strut up 2 and be this wet.

i agree but the problem is "as i was the same" is that people see that 50mph and traxxas and they buy it confused then why there boat does not go 50 but is is a easy way to get into fe boats and if i cant say anything good about the spartan i can say it has brought a whole bunch of people here and into rc fe boating once the start looking to find things to make it faster and then they discover glass boats and that there is better for less in pro boat and aquacraft and many others that make quality boats for less money but we do have traxxas to thank for all the new blast of new fe boaters

The reason I pulled my post is I went back and saw your other thread (the one you referenced). When I read your boat was running was running over 40+ than I knew your boat was getting on plane so my post wasn't going to help your problem. "On plane" is when the entire boat is running on top of the water. That should happens somewhere around 10 mph. Running wet is another problem. The hook is definitely not helping. But I've seen a little hook in allot of boats. Even more expensive glass hulls. Did you say you run the tabs neutral? Have you tried raising them up so they are positive? Even at neutral, they do have an effect on the boats handling.

In this picture the trim tab is at the bottom of the hull and transom,
It should be 3mm up from the bottom on the transom.
And than set it up like I told you before in your other post.

                  Hey try this.

Do you still have your trim tabs set like this and stringer or strut ?
                  If so,
This should be a easier way for you, I do it at the pond all the time.
I take a ruler or straight edge and put it against the bottom of the hull vee at stern 6" or so over lapping the hull,
And the rest under the stinger or strut end and check the distance between them for 3/16",
                  Then tighten the bolts.

Also move the trim tabs up about 1/4" at the back center of tabs,
Just move the adjusting bolts all the way up and bend the tabs up to make it easier.
I take a ruler or straight edge and put it against the bottom of the hull stern 6" or so over lapping and the rest under the trim tab,
And check the distance of each one.
Than move the bolts back down to zero it in on 1/4" and then lock them.
Get some video of it running with these setting first on glass if possible and close to shore with long saw runs.

Than if it start to plane to much bring the trim tabs down a little at a time to stop it from hopping at high speeds.
If you adjust it, Do one thing at a time and test again,
To say on track of it.

I agree. Traxxas got me into boats when I picked up a blast years back. I still love my summit as well. They have always had great products (not so much with the spartan) but I miss the days when they were new and making awesome stuff for very affordable prices. My first traxxas was the stampede back in 1993 or 94 ish when they were just coming out, or at least new to me. I paid about 100 bux for it, and compared to tamiya Blackfoot it was so much better, and cheaper!

Okay I got all the tabs off and bent up stripped most of the holes doing it but they are bent. I got 3 back on and the strut was already at 5 mm. I must admit I have never had them this high so once I get the holes on the last tab sorted out I will give her one last try before I fill her with gas for a fine show on he water. Lol

Let us know how you make out. Mono's can be PITA to set up but when you get it right.....schweet!! It took a dozen trips to the pond to get my first mono running right. And in the end, my tabs were too low.
