Turnigy 180 amp ESC. Extra capacitors??

Hey, guys. So, my new Turnigy 180 amp marine ESC arrived from Hobbyking, but it has a weird extra little bundle of capacitors wired to it, at least I think they are extra capacitors. I really don't know what they are. There's a black wire and a red wire, both very thin, coming off of the side where the big three capacitors are located, and those wires connect to a little heat-shrunk bundle of four smaller capacitor-looking objects. This picture of a Turnigy 120 amp ESC has the exact same thing. It's at the top of the picture. What is this? What does it do? Do I need it? Can I remove it? Should I remove it? Marine ESC.jpg
I am planning on installing this Turnigy 180 amp ESC into my Spartan, with a Leopard 4082 1600kv motor, and using 6s with two 3s 8400mah 40c lipos. So, what is that extra weird thing? Do I just leave it on there when I install the ESC? Thx in advance for all responses!

That doesn't appear to be a marine esc or at least it doesn't have water cooling lines.

Do not remove them! People ADD extra ones to the older version! Just as an example you can see the benefit of a cap bank.

My last two T180's came with the extra capacitor bank.

As mentioned, DO NOT remove them, they are beneficial.

Ok, cool, thx, guys. That's what I figured.

          1. Now, the wires to the extra cap bank are pretty thin. Is this a concern at all? Should I resolder thicker wires on there?

          2. When I install the T180 in the Spartan, where the heck do I put the extra cap bank?!? Tape it to the top of the ESC? Tape it to the top of one of the lipos? Does someone have a picture for reference? I probably don't want the extra cap bank just flopping around inside the boat while I am running, right??

Wires are thin, but they do their jobs.
Carefully arrange the cap bank so it can "nestle" between the three big ones and the lower part of the heat sink, tape them with electrical tape together. You should do this before this bank gets flopped around too many times thus damaging the wire or solder joints.
