You can use 1/4 brass stuffing tube with no teflon liner and 3/16 cable, or use Teflon liner with .150 cable

I have not had time to run the boat yet but I think I might get it out on thanksgiving or the weekend but in the mean time I got most all of the marts to start the build on the mean machine. Someone was telling me to go with an M445. The M is just a de-tonged X right? I know they are different hulls but if I am already at a X645 this a heavier boat and all my temps are good. why would I go down?

Okay I finally got out on the lake over the holiday the best run a got was 47.9 that is with the strut up 5MM, the tabs up 4MM at the back, the batteries all the way back. COG 25%. At that point I took the drive line out and put it in the mean machine. I started a new thread on that in the building section. I will post a link shortly. With the stock ESC, motor, and a 215 prop it ran 34 mph. maybe I forgot to bring in the anchor. Any suggestions? I guess I will keep going up on the tabs. But can I go higher on the strut? Here is short clip, I think I hit a fish LOL FYI the ESC stayed dry this time!!

just read your thread, mine is running 62 mp/h without problems

                          setup:

                          adjustable stinger strut
longer rudder (double pickup if possible, longer because it helps to get the chinewalk away)
cnc billet trim tabs (you need about 3 hours to adjust them if you go the same setup like me, more speed = more pulling to the side ;( )
                          upgrade to 3/16 cable
                          upgrade motors to 40mm (mine leopard 1800kv 40mm 3,5d)
                          better esc: ish 200+ amps
better prop: prather s225 (with lift)
2x 3s lipos 8000mah (perfect weight) 50/100c discharge serial plugged completly back in the boat ( get an antispark, after 3 sesions you wont change the bullet connectors any more :p )
collets and other improved stuff like bigger tubing and cooling

                          finish: balance it

small tuning: reinforced hull with epoxy (back), taking out the stiro in the front of the boat and put some U.P. in it (less weight, better stability of the front, still cant sink), and a thing that gives me 0,3 mph, you wont belive it, put some lack on it, it doesnt get much, but the bit that it gets is perfect to put the back more into the water.

my hull weights at front -0,3 kilos and back +1,3 then the stock setup, it needs about 1 second to get out of the water, but its very stabil, no chine walk (was my biggest problem before)

its very expensive to change all this stuff, and you get everytime risky to overheat your setup so be careful, dont instant start him or drive with full throttle all the time, check your temps.

you dont hitted a fish, thats the chinewalk, everyone loves it on the spartan, hahahaha, did you change something on the turn fins? looks like you go from chinewalk to turnfin and then the boat turns around, if it woud be a fish your boat woud not do such a nice roll

Lol yeah the boat is a pain I see so few having great success like you. If you look at a few of my posts I have has a lot of upgrades on there. With the 4092 1340kv I was up to an X646 I kind of have up after I found how hooked the hull was. If I can get it into the mid 40s o. The stock setup I might try upgrading it again this time going with the higher kv I think swinging that big of a prop just caused more problems.

i think to the pops make the most problems on the spartan while driving, a to big prop increase chinewalk or barelrolls, the best is a prather s220 with a 1600kv leopard 4082, a 4092 is not made for 6s, look on the leopard page to see the max amps and lipos
