New To RC Boats.....

I just bought a used Spartan with the Castle ESC and motor. I plan on building the boat up a bit, and I was thinking on ditching the Traxxas radio and receiver. I was thinking on upgrading to Spektrum gear....DX3S and MR3000. Is this a good idea or should I stay with the Traxxas equipment.

Also, I was planning on getting the Castle Hydra 240. What other hardware would go good with this particular ESC???

All the othe mods (separate cooling lines, etc.) will also be done.....

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

I run the Spektrum gear in my Spartans, it works fine, but I'm not sure it is worth the $$ changing up unless, like me, you are standardizing your radio system with other models.

The Hydra Ice is a nice ESC, but a bit of overkill for the spartan. I run the Turnigy/Seaking 180 amp ESC's and they work well if you don't get carried away with too high of kv motors and overly large props.
