    Leopard 4082 vs Castle 1515

Hi, guys! I currently have a Spartan w/the stock Castle motor/ESC, dual pickup rudder, x640 prop, 0.078 drive wire, and 6s 8400mah 40c. I was gonna get the Leopard 4082 1600kv/Seaking 180amp combo, but then I saw Rinski's video of his 68mph Spartan! So, now I'm wondering if I should just skip the Leopard/Seaking, and go straight to the Castle 1515 2200kv w/Hydra 240amp setup? What are the pros and cons of these two setups? Which one should I get? Is the 1515 gonna be noticeably faster? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance for all responses!

P.S. Would I even need a 240 esc for the 1515, or would a 180 or even 200 work also?

As good as a Castle 1515 is, its still a 4074 compared to the 4082 Leopard, both are 4 poles and the Leopard is no slouch, efficiency level is probably darn close if not even to a 1515. I'd go with the Leopard on 6s, you can turn a bigger prop not only due to size of the motor but also the "torque" advantage of the lower kv on 6s. Your Lipo at a whopping 8400 mah and 40c will give it all the juice it needs to with 336 continuous amp output.

So to answer your initial question..............no, i dont think it will be noticably faster, i think it will be slower.

Scratch the Castle 1515 and replace it with a Neu 1515 1Y(w/ Hydra 240) and then you will have a winner.

And 68mph? Doubt it. Most likely 6s, which is fine for 30 second runs.

Go with the 4082 1600, they have proven reliable.

                  I run a 4082 1600 on 6S in one Spartan, and a CC1515 on 5S in my other Spartan.

Both have been reliable setups so far on a T180 ESC, and upgraded drive line. (.187 and .078 wire)

Based on my experience, The spartan is not a stable running boat and trying to push it much past mid to high 40's mph is aggravating.

I was referring to this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLxf7BKcwyc It's Rinski's, and he said the specs are seaking 180, castle 1515, prather 220, TURNIGY 6S 5000MAH 35C. His boat looks very fast and stable. Here's another thread where his video was discussed on these forums. http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...raxxas-Spartan Do you guys think he is full of it, or just one of the lucky ones, or just really good at building fast stable boats?

Is the boat faster with the Castle motor or with the Leopard motor ?????

......and, what about installing the Leopard 4082 1800KV motor with the Castle Hydra 240A ESC ?????
