    Best prop for 1600kv?

I am planning on using a Leopard 4082 1600kv motor, Seaking 180A ESC, 6s 8400mah 40c lipo, dual pickup rudder, and a 0.078" piano drive wire. What is likely to be the best prop for this setup?

Dag-nabit recommended a Prather 220 or Octura x642. Any other ideas? I have also heard x/m445, x447, and x/m645. Also, what is the difference between x and m props? Which one would you recommend for this setup?

Thx in advance for all responses!

The difference between X series and M series props is the design of the blades. Do a few google image searches and you will be able to see the difference.

The M series have been "de-tongued" leaving less surface area on the blade, this will help to reduce load on the motor, but with less surface area on the blades you will get more slip.

The idea is, if an X447 is too much load for your motor, but stepping down to an X445 is turning too easily and you feel there is a bit more performance available, you can go to an M447, as a step in between. you have the same pitch and diameter as an X447, but with less surface area and more slip, so in theory it slots in between the two X series props.

With less surface area, M series props should also have less lift that their X series counterpart.

For a 4082 1600kv on 6s i would recommend an Octura x442, m445...........or a Prather s215. The only thing you need to make sure of is to provide enough amperage, which it seems you are at over 350 continuous amps with your 8400 40c's.

Overpropping even a hair will take your boat from a fun time out, to an ugly retrieval effort................ No need and maxxing out the sytem for 2-3 mph more as many have done, and regretted it.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

Looks like with that combo, the X642 is going to cause issues, over amping the controller, don't ask, but go to the smaller x442 prop and try that. I really do not like running a controller to the battery limit 6s.
There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!

I run a prather S220 on mine with the T180 and 4082 1600kv on 6S. It works well.

Well, looks like a X642 has killed two T180 controllers, so stepping down to x442, I think the KV of these motors are too high for 6s and amp draw is getting out of hand for sport and reliable running..

What setup are you running? I see you have the 180 ESC, what motor?

We are running a 1600kv Leopard, the combo upgrade from OSE, with 8400mah 3 cell lipos x2 ( this combo is a friends boat not mine )

Are you guys going to the pond tomorrow ( Monday? )
