Does anyone offer an upgraded hull designed to accept the Spartan OEM and/or aftermarket components? With the volume that Traxxas does, combined with the construction of the Spartan hull, I'm thinking there may be a decent market for a product that allows you to leverage the good bits and use in a high performance fiberglass platform.
Hull upgrade available?

Not that hard mates. A good 37" DF hull would be just fine. Not slip in but, not too far off.Nortavlag Bulc

That's precisely what I'm thinking. I'm not familiar with other brands, but the Spartan "Power Module" tray design is very clever. 2 screws and the collet and out! Of course, if others supported the design interface, you'd be able to switch hulls in a matter of seconds!Comment

I was just thinking... IF it had a decent power system that didn't melt, there would be no need for the "easy 2 bolt sytem".
The very fact they built it to easily repair tells me something I don't want to know.Nortavlag Bulc

I really like being able to pull the tray and have all the components right there to work on. Especially with my pudgy old fingers that are starting to stiffen with arthritis. I find it much easier than working in the confines of the hull
If Traxaas did one thing right on the Spartan it was the removable component tray concept, IMO. Maybe the only thing they did right, but it is a concept I hope to see adopted by other manufactures, it reall does make maintenance and repair much easier.

Well, I have to agree on the old nubby fingers. You can only do removalable stuff to a point, the heavier things get....
Why the heck didn't they make it fit a 1717 is a mystery to me.
Now, thats an upgrade!Nortavlag Bulc

I have a 1717 set up, but personally I'm leery about hanging that much weight on the end of the plastic component tray without supporting the end of the can, and I can't be bothered with trying to mod in some type of support.
I'm running a 1515 2200kv on 5S in my Spartan, and a 4082 1500kv on 6S in my daughters Spartan, a .187 cable in the daughters and a .078 wire on mine. Running sensible sized props, I can honestly say that pretty much the only grief we've had since going with these setups has been self inflicted.
