Depends on how long between runs (24 hours in between you should be ok). It is best to pull the flex cable out after your done running and wipe and reaply grease (grim racer Speed grease is what a vast majority of us use...it's awesome). I'm sure it is even more crucial if running in salt water.
All in all, it's best to get use to doing this practice each time you run the boat...save yourself a headach and if something is wrong you might be able to catch it early by inspecting it and all in all takes maybe 2-3 minutes. -
After running, and before storing the boat is crucial to protect the flex against corrosion.
I grease the driveline on all my boats after 2 runs. Not saying this is necessary, just the routine I have adopted. There is always a good coating of grease after two runs, but it is starting to emulsify with water by then, so I figure two runs is a good for a quick inspection and fresh grease.
The Spartan is bad for augering grease out the back and it may be worth considering greasing after every run. This was discussed in length on the forums shortly after the initial release of the Spartan.
I have modified the stuffing tube and strut on my Spartans so they don't auger the grease as bad now and I still have good residual grease after two runs, but the Spartan with the .187 flex still has less grease on the drive line than my other boats after a couple runs. My Spartan with the wire drive has no issues with pushing out grease.

Mine pushes the grease out pretty bad as mentioned. I usually do it ever 1 - 2 runs.Spartan - Leo4076 2200 Seaking180 | Shockwave BL26 | Nitro Vee - Modded | Nitro Vee - Original

I then inspected everything all looked ok except the drive shaft felt hot so i packed up and came home to play safe. At home i pulled out the flexi and noticed what must be heat marks like a black powdery effect about three quarters the way down the flexi, not a mark in the teflon tube anywhere, but after taking off the struffing tube i noticed colour distortion in about the same spot as the flexi. So i guess i have had friction at this point. Going to try and glass paper down the flexi get rid of this burnt effect grease up well and hope for the best.
Now will have to grease up after every run to be on the safe side.Comment
