    Spartan re-work

Okay guys. I know I have said that I will never own another mono, but I got this boat in trade. One of my club members was selling her, and he found I had some stuff he needed. Anyway, I got this V1 (Velineon setup) spartan. She's been run only on 14 Nimh cells (16.8V) and the stock prop. I have pulled out the mtor, ESC, and RX. I plan on running strictly 4s, so that will the UL-1 setup do for a mono, or should I go to a bigger leopard motor?

A popular upgrade motor for the Spartan has been the Leopard 4082 - 1600kv on 6s but if you want to run 4s theirs a 2000kv & also a 2200kv that is custom wound for OSE that are both in OSE store. The 2200kv is also a y wind motor.

I have the 4082 2200 in my P hydro. I just thought it was overkill in this boat. Thanks!

I would say the 4082 motor has been the widest used upgrade motor in the Spartan along with the T180a esc, theirs lots of threads re this.

I'm going to use the stock guts in a "fun" boat just to run around. Does that temp sensor have to be used?
Looks like to me, when it gets hot enough, it closes the circuit telling the RX the motor's too hot. If it works the other way around, where it's closed then opens the circuit, it is needed. I guess I'll just put a meter on it to see which way it goes.

The electronics should be sent in to Traxxas right away!

I think what he meant by sending in the stock electronics was: Last year when the esc problems where happening traxxas for the most part was replacing junk ones that where sent and replaced them with the castle. I had the old system and contacted traxxas and they told me that they would not replace the old system unless it was defective. I sold the boat before any esc problems showed up. Being a year later then might not even do anything with the old systems if the when fine this long.

Traxxas will not just come out and ay it but they will replace it.
