    Traxxas Spartan leaking

I have a new Traxxas Spartan and water keeps coming in every time I run. I sealed around the bottom where the stuffing tube comes through, and found one of the cooling line had a split in it and changed that. Even going slow on calm water so there would not be any water coming through the hatch did not make a difference. I still get about three ounces of water. Any suggestions?

It might be comming up the flex cable. Have you greased it well?

Sell it and buy a real FE boat that you can properly seal with tape.

yes there is a good amount of grease on the shaft. I remove about every third run. I did notice though that the shaft does not fit very precise. There seems to be a little slop when you wiggle the shaft back and forth, like the brass bushing has some extra wear.

I believe that you have to remove all the hardware(not the brass tube of flex)from the boat and reinstall it with some silicon.

You mention slop in the brass tube? You do have the teflon liner in there don't you? If so, it could be the rubber hull grommet where the brass tube exits. I had to change mine out as the grease caused it to swell and therefor leak.

The two common leaks with the Spartan are the cooling jacket, replace it with a good quality aluminum cooling jacket, and around the fittings where the tubing connects, install small zip ties and pull them tight.

Good point, completely forgot about the terrible leaky silicone stock jacket. I am surprised they still come with these after all this time. Must have bought a truckload of them.

Thanks for all your advice. I'm thinking it might be the silicon water jacket as well.

                        its the water jacket leaking

I installed an all alum unit, no leaks, zip tie the water lines on as well, coat the motor with vasoline to install the alum. jacket or you will twist an o-ring

Could be the water jacket... You can test it if you take it out of the boat, fill the jacket with water and blow through the line with the other eb
nd plugged with your thumb.... I always do this to test my seal when installing a wj...
