Yeah, i'm switching hobbies now... What i meant was why bother soldering leads of you don't have to, plus if you have multiple plug typs on different boats/vehicles, a universal plug is a great idea! I'll probably end up buying a couple sets of HK's, you can't beat the price even if you do get a bad one here or there.

jj2003, yeah a couple truck guy's i know have talked down the Venoms pretty bad, but then like you said, some have had good luck with them too! 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other, just like the HK's, your gonna get good ones and some bad ones once in a while, china isn't all that great at quality control LOL!

Venoms universal plug is junk, nothing more. You are far better off soldering on your own connectors.

That's the info i was looking for!! Thanks man!! I'm not against soldering my own connectors, like said my point was if the Venoms were good batteries why not go that route. I'm not the best at soldering, but practice makes perfect!

Ive been using Turnigy packs for a long time and have had 2 that arrived with weak cells, but they have been revived and have been working great. I will be buying a couple of Hyperion packs to try in the near future though. Go to the LHS, get an $8 soldering iron, a roll of solder and start practicing! Its easy and doesnt take long to learn to make nice looking work. Just remember, when soldering connectors onto batteries, leave one lead covered while you are doing the other. After that, cover they lead you just soldered while you solder the last.

I have a really nice soldering iron, it's a trigger style which makes it a little more of a challenge but works good. I have soldered plenty of connectors in the past, may not be the prettiest joints but they work!! LOL
