Help me power my new Spartan!

So im a new owner of a Spartan, Turns out I just got suckered and bought the old version (thanks hobbytown USA). Im wanting to buy and install lipos after only one run with the in the box batteries (yawn).
After finding out ive just most likley bought a expensive smoke show im thinking ill go with 5s lipos in parallel to play it on the safe side and longer run times.
Im looking around now for lipos and a charger, ive been eyeballing turnigy 5000's 25c and the b6 charger.
Questions, will the vxl-6 auto detect for 5s and adjust the cutoff voltage after I turn on LVC?
Can someone show me how to wire this up? I think I know how to do this but im not sure its the best way. "A picture is worth a thousand words"

Yes, lots. I did just come across a diagram about wiring in parallel so that answers one of my questions. Thanks for asking..

tried 5s on the castle system and it didnt work. 4s and 6s thats what ive had working.

Why wouldn't 5s work? No reason it shouldn't.

i tried it on the new system and it didnt work. it kept going into low voltage cuttoff. did 4s and 6s no problems

Well, I picked up new Turnigy 30c 5s 5.0 packs, 110.00 to my door (hobbykingusa seattle). And for a charger I picked a new Advantage Twin Spec Charger by Team Orion USA, 141.00 to my door (ebay) I think thats a good deal. Now I just need a few conectors and I think ill be good to go!

Seriously..........listen to "dark soul" call traxxas. Even though I didn't end up going with the spartan I think traxxas is a good company. They will probably send you new stuff with no hassle. And if they don't.........just plug in your batts and run the thing wide open dry till you see the smoke...........bc they will replace your smoked electronics.......with the new castle stuff. Just beware.......if you smoke the castle stuff.......which I've heard a few HAVE done......you go directly through Castle for warranty. Traxxas is "washing their hands" of Spartan problems.

tried 5s on the castle system and it didnt work. 4s and 6s thats what ive had working.

This esc will work on 4s, 5s, and 6s....

Tested out my new 5s parallel lipos, about 3 seconds of low speed power then the motor made a pop sound and came to a stop. Now when you hit the throttle the motor shutters and will not spin. Nothing was hot or even warm.. It's on it's way to traxxas now, they will have it on thursday, hope they are quick about it. Almost a grand into a rc boat to take on my vacation up to the lake, now it's broke and I leave for the lake tomorrow lol, should have researched this before I bought it. Looks like after you finish swapping in a new motor and esc, a wire drive, lipos and figure out a way to keep the water out it might be a fun boat!! Lol

i tried to tell you it wont work. been there tried it and when it was in low speed power i stopped so it didnt burn up. when i talked to traxxas they said 4s and 6s only!

heres video of my aquacraft motely crew with traxxas/castle system on gps at 66.2mph. best ive had it is 68.4mph. motor temps were 115 on all 2 min runs we did and was on octura x645. believe i can get 70mph if i get more prop(only for speed runs though)

As far as keeping water out, i temp. Fixed mine, i gave a castle 1515 2200kv motor with an ose jacket, still got water in, so i took the motor out and put clear silicone sealant around the ends of the jacket and now i only get like a tablespoon if water, which us acceptable....

@zx, just curious why you want to run 5s in parallel ? Your better off using what is advertised, 4 or 6cell. I would go for 6 cell and just watch your temps and maintain the boat properly, also don't do speed runs fir the whole batt , do a couple then take it easy, then do a cool down before you come i'n , as the motor/ esc heat up alot after you bring it i'n.... I saw (on mine) a 15 deg spike when i bought it i'n and let it sit to cool, that was on the motor .... Hope you get running soon and good luck and keep us posted!!
