Just shipped my origional ESC/Motor back to Traxxas

Guess i'll find out how good their costumer service really is!! I posted a couple weekes ago, my ESC stopped working after the boat flipped and took on water. No lights, no beeps, no throttle or servo, plus the batts get warm immediatly (leads get pretty hot after less than 10 seconds plugged in). I finally got time to call the tech line today, the tech i talked to said yup, sounds like you have a problem, send the whole tray in, we'll get it fixed! So hopefully i'll end up with the new Castle motor/ESC combo, i just bought a new lipo ready charger so now lipos will be in my future!! Heres a quick question for all you guy's that have sent in your old stuff for new parts, do you have to re-bind the transmitter to the reciever?? If they replace my reciever too, will my transmitter work with a different reciever? Hopefully i get the new parts back before the season is over!!

you should get a new Castle esc from them fast...
they have had tons of bad press now with this boat, and they are playing catch up to win over users
word is they are having issues with the new esc though.....

another traxxas/castle esc bites the dust...
you can run the T180 on 6s just as is, but some do run an external bec just to be safe with it...

That kinda sucks, they are having problems with the Castle electronics too?? Is it just with 6s?? If i run the boat on Lipo's it probably won't be more than 4s, and the majority of the time it will be run on NiMh's, any problems there??

we don't know the cause of the issue with this esc...?
but running on 4s I see as not being the issue...

As brushless55 says, there is no guarantee, we don't know what might be causing the failures at this time.

But running any type of equipment with less than max load will certainly reduce the chances of problems.

Well, it's been 3 weeks now since i sent in my electronics tray, and i still have no parts back from traxxas!! I'm not real happy with traxxas right now!! Maybe a couple weeks is reasonable, but 3 weeks is not . Must be they're sending out a ton of motors/ESC's, maybe Castle can't keep up!! Anybody else waiting on parts?

Not waiting personally, but I did read a post in the past day or so that Traxxas is back ordered on parts again and there are delays receiving warranty replacements.

Yeah i just saw something about that over on the traxxas forums. This blows, the first time around when i origionally bought the boat i had to wait a full year to run it, back orderd for over 7 months, got the boat right before X-mas and had to sit wait till the water thawed out. I wasn't happy about that but gave traxxas the benefit of the doubt, now it'll probably be down for the rest of this season, what little is left anyways. Probably be the last purchase i ever make of a traxxas product, i was planning on picking up a T-maxx monster truck but now i'm leaning more towards HPI instead. I know i could always buy a T180 and Leopard motor and throw in it but i'm saving that for a Fighter Cat Daytona/Genesis cat build i'm planning on over the winter.

The fighter cat genesis is a nice hull. I'm not a fan of the 4mm driveline that it comes with though. I'm going to try to source a different system over the winter, and hopefully get more run time on it next summer.

I thought the same thing about the 4mm driveline too, that's why when i order the hull (when ever they are back in stock) i'm not gonna order the hardware kit for the boat, just the hull only. I have 3/16 drive shafts up the ying yang, i'll just order all the running gear probably from OSE. Since you have expirience with the Genesis hull, how well does it handle a little bit of chop? I won't be goin for blistering speeds, just a mild 7 cell/4s type set-up.

Got my parts back from Traxxas finally!! I was little ticked it took so long (over a month) but i guess over all since they replaced the motor/esc with the new Castle system completely free of charge it's not a bad deal. I did have to re-bind the radio, but now it's all ready to go. If it wasn't for heavy rain forcasted for the next several day's i'd have it at the pond this week, just have to wait till next week i guess.
