Anyone had this problem or heard of this going on with the Traxxas Spartan Boat.. I have run this boat about 10 times with factory setup plus I added bigger tubing for the water cool system.. 2 lipos power edge 3 cell setup boat will run about 50 plus on smooth water.. But while running it the speed controller caught small fire and popped.. just wondering if anyone has seen this..

I too have a ESC that melted. Problem was likely 6s and a prop that was a little too big. Stay with the recommeded stock prop X442 or smaller.Comment

I bought a new blue one and pluged in the batteries that came with it, not even 6s and the whole thing melted down, it would of caught fire if the connectors had not melted off, what a over priced peice of crap, I always wanted one, but I sent it back and got a refund. Anyone had a problem like this? I wanted to do a dry run to make sure it was gona work, after less than 60 seconds of a little throttle, it had a nuclear reaction.Comment

I think so, it was the new castle verson, I really didnt even get a chance to really check it out in detail, I took it out of the box, put it on the stand, charged the batts, pluged them in, let it go thru its beeps, gave it a little throttle and it went up in smoke, it was a black melted mess.Comment

Yes it is very disappointing. I have invested a lot of money for upgrades, and 3 sets of 6s and 3sets of 4s in batteries alone. I am too far in with the money I have spent. I will continue with the spartan. Call me a bugger for punishment. It is still the fastest RTR electric boat.Comment

In regards to the using of 5s. It says in the manual not to mix different batteries. If so, do you think the warranty will still be covered?Comment
