The batterises where coming off warm, around 150 after 5 min, motor and esc are really cool, never got above 80 deg. no bind and shaft is greased, lipos where even warm.
Wow that suck.. I know my buddies hit 31mph on 4s then was hitting around 43~45mph played around with the strut and bateeries hit 48.1 then 50.7 then blew either the esc for the 2nd time or motor. Those boats like a little chop they seem to go faster with chop but its a lot of frustrating trual and error settings to get it right. Also his was all stock so it is possible but the electronics just don't hold up to high voltage as claimed. Call traxxas they will issue you a new hull just sucks you gotta wait ffor it

Hull is not bad nothing a little epoxy, would fix it, it just the point its a new boat, how do you think a proboat brushless system would work? I guess I'll just try What is the best thing to change to the stock setup?

It wouldn't. Hull is simply too big for a 36-56 size can.

See how the PB motor/esc work?

the proboat is a 1500 and the traxxas is 1600 and both are close in weight?

bro, the PB motor is much smaller than the VXL
the PB is considered a S can and the VXL is a XL can

the PB motor hands down is a much better built motor vs the VXL motor though
I would not put the stress on the PB motor by putting it in this big hull

but there is a chance it would outperform the traxxas motor when running it on 4s

you need a motor that is better built than the VXL motor and of the same size or bigger
that's why the CC1520 is such a good motor for this hull

How would that motor run with say 7 cells or 4s, I really don't want to get new battereis, I'm sure I can get some more speed with setup or prop just don't know how.

MMMM not so much. Like BL55 said ones a 3656 can the other a XL 3674 can the extra rotor size means a lot. To be honest with a 3674 motor (the vxl motor) is actually already kinda small for the hull and 2 pole (which leads to most of the issues), plus the PB motor is a little less kv. So your putting a smaller motor with less kv and gonna run it on the same voltage. The results are gonna be veerrrrrrry slow. The PB is actually A MUCH MUCH better motor then the vxl motor, just not the right size for the job. A 3674 motor CAN work great in the hull. It just has a be a decent motor like the leopard 4 pole 3674s with low 1500-1600 kv (torque/amp reasons).

it would be killer D if PB made a XL version of there motor

That would be sick. I would hate to see the price though, you ever see the price on a freaking Stiletto motor...

I guess is there anyway to get more speed out of stock form? I ran a 3 blade grim racer prop and it was slower. Does strut and and battery placement play that much in a speed factor?

oh man, a XL UL-1 motor could be used in a 40size Hydro

Are you still running the stock motor and esc?
if so, 30mph is about max on 4s with the stock prop
you can run a little bigger prop on 4s and get upper 30's
and on 6s your only going to get mid low to mid 40's
