My body asked me to post this.. he wants to know what everyone is setting there spartan drive strut angle at? He gps it at 43.4mph with 6s and then moved it up about 5mm and ran with nimh packs and got 17mph so he didn't have the 6s charged to see if it made a differnce or not with those. He was just keeping it where it came from the factory at 4mm down I believe that's what he.said thanks for the help
Drive strut angle

I feel they run better with a little positive angle on 6S.
I think if the drive has negative angle it would help NiMH packs because to put more of the prop in the water. Or so the manual states. about the negative angle. they dont say go positive in the manual just level to negative.
do not go negative angle on 6S unless you want to see the nose dive down into the water.Land, Sea & Air, A true RC Addict. -
I'd just set the strut level with the bottom of the hull line if your running 4S. If that's not enough speed see if going down or up a mm will do and see if it gets better or worse.
This RC stuff is all about trial and error and seeing what works best for your setup. It's hard to give exact advise on what you should do and say yes that will work for sure 100% on everything.
I don't run my Spartan on anything but 6S so it's a little hard to say what to do for anything other.Land, Sea & Air, A true RC Addict.Comment

Justin (JPriami) On your videos u have your batteries almost all the way in the rear? What is the gap on your strut to the prop dog (measured like in the manual?) Mine is 4mm and I got my best speed with the packs a little forward from 1/2 way with a little death wobble so i need to go a little more forward i think.Genesis (Bosncali Geico Beater) Leopard 4082 1500KV

I have lots of videos testing different setups. I've found the boat runs good on packs in the middle of the trays. To 1" back from all the way forward. Best way to do the gap on the strut and drive dog is make it the same thickness as the cable your using. So .150" of a gap on this boat should be good.Land, Sea & Air, A true RC Addict.Comment

ya i was going back and looking at all your videos and setups, i agree with battery position. My strut is a little positive....gonna try the x642 and the P220 i think, see if that gets me 50mph. I can get 44 to 45mph with some wobble...hit 47.1 once, must have been downwind or just lucky. Packs forward with no wobble runs 41-43 mph. thinking about upgrading to your motor and esc run low to mid 50's. A little concerned about T180 esc not being waterproof. I heard of some gell stuff that u spray on to waterproof but i havent researched it yet.Genesis (Bosncali Geico Beater) Leopard 4082 1500KV
