If it is like Traxxas mini E Revo, on 2 battery packs, which I have driven, this boat will be a bullet on 6S, remember "Factory" out of the Box, no other hopupsThere is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!Comment

The Geico needs more POWER out of the box..should have come with an 1800KV motor. This way at least you are still using "P" power 4S, not 5S to get the same speed...it is a large boat! There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!Comment

Same speed as what? I'm getting over 30mph with a stock prop and 4s and quite happy. Its the same speed Traxxas is advertising their boat will run on 4s.Steven Vaccaro

If your Geico isn't fast enough, you aren't prop'ing it correctly.
That being said... We also wanted the Geico to SURVIVE the average "RTR" boater... Guys that want to run them for 5+ minutes and run the cells to cutoff, etc.
It's NOT being marketed as a "Race Boat"... it's a FANTASTIC RTR, that CAN be raced... I assure you, had I wanted it to be marketed as a "Race Boat", it would have been one of the fastest. I think I know how to make that happen by now.
I'll believe all this Traxxas Hype when I see it. It's a tuperware boat, that should be capable of decent speeds, but we'll see just how "race ready" it really is... that involves a hell of a lot more than a quick GPS pass at 50mph...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

I find it amusing how many of you think that KV means "more power"...

Interesting Darin, It was not until I moved the rudder that this boat was starting to show some promise in speed, BUT the Super Vee, motor is approx 1800KV and has been very reliable. I use the same prop on the Vee as the Geico, and I have played with many props, and still the Vee is faster..going to swap out the proboat motor for the old blue super vee motor..I guess we will see..There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!Comment

I agree. I also look at it this way, it took them about 3 years to finally catch up. It better be good.Steven Vaccaro

Yeah, I just did an article in the current RC Driver magazine that covers that... The supervee 27R on stock Nimh, stock prop does 32. 4S stock prop 36. 4S grim performance prop 40. But at that rate it draws 75A through a 45A ESC... And doesn't support LVC so I don't recommend it. I didn't have a lot of time to tweak it though - that was at a neutral strut angle, one session of testing.
the Aquacraft esc can take much more than what its rated to
I've run 5000mah 30c packs on the stock prop and have gotten 39mph and that was running a tad wet
I've also run the stock SV27 on 5s and it ripps.NAMBA20...Caterpillar UL-1, P-Spec OM29, P-Mono DF33, P-Spec JAE, Aussie 33" Hydro-LSH, Sprintcat CC2028 on 8s, PT SS45 Q Hydro, PS295 UL-1 power, OSE Brothers Outlaw QMono 4-sale, Rio 51z CC2028 on 8sComment

The Original BJ26 motors were around 1680KV or so... the new version, however, is only 1500KV, but the new one is MUCH more efficient. (1.6A vs 2.5A for the original).
The new motor will handle a TON of prop.
I do not put ANY weight in swapping props from one setup to another and comparing speeds... Performance only happens with a matched package, and the hulls are completely different.
Your MG will handle a LOT of prop. It's a more efficient hull, that, especially at speed, rides WAY out of the water with a lot more lift. Getting the rudder out of the way made it easier to tune, and likely faster IN THE TURNS, but in the straights, I think the effect was less. LOTS of people are flying with them down the straights with more prop and the rudder in the stock position.
I've never taken the setup to it's full limit, but I know from past experience that this motor package can handle a LOT more pitch than I've seen anyone here throw at it. NOT for 5-minutes, however. I'm talking race type setups.
I'm sure the Traxxas will be a fun boat, but it's still just another boat. I see nothing in this package that indicates it should have any unique kind of performance. It's going to perform like many other race style monos perform. That's not a bad thing, just the way things work.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

For as really crude as that little blue motor is, it really does perform. Pretty amazing. We all owe a LOT to that motor being produced, because it truly did start the "P-Spec" revolution in racing...Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

The key is to understand that the term RACE can be widely interpreted, as Traxxas's legal/marketing staff must know. Hell, there's a tavern in town that has turtle races every week. Maybe that's where Traxxas got the "Race Ready" idea from2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap
2009/2010 NAMBA P-Sport Hydro Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder, '13 SCSTA P-Ltd Cat High Points

Is the boat actually 36", or does that include the length of the hardware... If the hull itself is actually only 34" or less, then it could be run in P-Mono/Offshore, but not without a motor swap.Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA
