Funny thing is I live in Vermont... we have about 3 hobby shops in the State...lol.... yet all the young kids have heard of Traxxas and many have one.... very few know what losi or associated is?
I think you missed what I said
to compare Losi and Associated to Traxxas in the same class, traxxas falls short
everyone knows traxxas makes entry level stuff its all marketed to the new guys
Hobbytown and most LHS sell Traxxas like 100 to 1 of anything else, and they make a killing on parts from Traxxas stuff that break, and that's a good thing
and Traxxas has new maketers floating around the web pushing there products like regular goes on forums across World Wide Web
and Associated and Losi both have trucks like the T-Maxx, well sort of because theres kicks the T-Maxx ass
    The T-Maxx falls short
both Losi and Associated have SC trucks and they kick ass.. Associated's SC truck been out for some time now, well over a year, maybe two by now

I think you kind of missed what Jason was saying. Also, I respectfully disagree with your comments about hobby shops making gobs of cash off broken traxxas parts.

I've got a full size brushless revo, and brushless stampede that I've put through hell without breaking parts. Also had a mini revo that spent quite a bit of time coming down from jumps the height of the roof of my house. Only ever broke one A-arm on it before I sold it, and guess what, Traxxas sent me a pair for free....This is when the mini revos were new, and parts were hard to come by.

Point being, they seem to build towards back yard bashers, not racers, and this new boat seems to follow that business plan. If it is anything as tough and reliable as the other products I own from them, I'm sure it will be a hit.

          waiting..

I am just waiting to see, that is all. I find thier claims interesting and I look forward to the actual data. Like what prop on 6s pushes it to the 50 mark and what is the average current flow at that point?

I mean, this is only a 540xl-1600 kv motor from what I have heard. Isn't that like 60ish amps capacity? I am really interested in the data numbers when one comes out and is hooked to an eagle tree! Prop, speed, overall weight and amperage!

People (I wasn't sure either!) didn't think my Turnigy 36mm outrunner would push my 40" offshore oldschool scarab on to plane let alone 30mph and I am close to hitting my 30mph goal on that scale boat. Sometimes setups surprise us, so I am just biding my time and waiting for the results to come out. Then take that information and learn from it.

Oh, and I am thinking it will be a great entry level boat to FE, not a toy, but not race class either. For the money, hard to beat. Of course, I think the boat is ugly as sin.... Put a scale old school hatch on it and paint it, I would dig that!

Till it comes out, it is just speculation anyways. time will tell.

I didn't miss anything at all bro!
I have an Erevo that I put in a 6XL motor and it ripps!

            even on 3s with paddles

but for me my Losi is the bomb

not as fast, but top speed does not mean wins

I didnt see who said what about Traxxas parts. But here's the real deal. Hobby shops have to compete with online retailers. A hobby shop will make about $20-$50 dollars on a $500 traxxas truck. Take into account the credit card fees and there isnt much profit there. They HAVE to make a ton of profit on parts. Its the ONLY thing keeping these shops open. That and selling glue and fuel. Most of the guys that I know that have brick front hobby shops are just keeping their heads above water.

Oh and sorry to get you guys started on the Cyber Storm. Lets get back on topic for the Spartan. And move the Cyber talk to a new thread.

Maybe it was ME that misunderstood YOU B55. I was under the impression you were getting at TRX stuff being easy to break, and that is why the hobby shops were making so much off the parts. Upon re-reading it I get what you are saying.

                    it's alright bro!
my LHS knows me very well, in fact I just got home from there a few minutes ago buying a new clutch bell for my Losi
and while I'm taking the motor out I'm going to use that as an escuse to send of the motor and have it modded!

Nice, what sort of brushless setup would you compare that motor modded to? Also, seeing that revo pic of yours makes me want to get some paddles... Sick! Maybe install one of those 1518s I got for cheap too.

I hope Traxxas includes some R/C boating safety tips in the manual. There will be lots of newbies running these, that's for sure. Dont want to start hearing about people swimming after toy boats.

I've already seen discussions of building ramps to jump them on the trx forum. Swimmers may not be the only ones who need to be worried. Lol

I just breezed through the Traxxas forum. (not a member) The mods (traxxas employees) seem to delete, and warn people any time they say anything negative or insinuate anything about this boat.
What way is that to run a forum? Guys trying to give advice through experience are being labeled as know it alls.
That place is a total drag.
Can't wait till newbies start dropping in 5000kv motors and running 6s.
They're about to find out how dangerous and destructive electricity can be.
