Howdy all,
I picked up a black version with several plans.
1) who doesn’t love a self righting boat for a windy day?
2) seeing all the videos of super loosey goosey running boats - it needs some key mods:
3) reinforce the abs hull (done)
4) add trim tab tops to hold them in place
5) raise strut and maybe do a flooded strut and remove stinger until preferred depth is found (done)
6) upgrade all electronics: 1521 1y neu, t180 v2, green high torque servo (~350oz-in) (done)
7) replace graphics with custom ones. (Done)

Kevlar tape

Here is the reinforcement mod.
I picked up a 10ft roll of 4in Kevlar cloth a little bit ago.
From this cut me a ~30in long piece for the starboard side and a short piece for just in front of the transom.
I masked off the rest and then sprayed 3m contact cement inside the hull and on the cloth. After a minute or two, I pressed the Kevlar into position and smoothed to out nicely (see photos). I let this sit for 30 min or so to cure up.
Then I mixed up two pumps worth of west systems epoxy and painted it over the Kevlar.
Now there is virtually no flex in the hull.
I did same to the hatch and that is also super rigid.

Raise strut, flooded stuffing tube

Here I will share this simple step.
I drilled another hole to make a 3/4? high oval.
Then get a brass tube that will fill this when squished into shape, maybe 2/3 length of stuffing tube inside boat.
Either unbend stock stuffing tube or make new one and make sire it slides into the strut and lines up with the motor collet.
Then cut 2? piece of adhesive shrink wrap and secure stuffing tube to flood tube and reinsert to oval hole in transom.
This step effectively raised strut about 1/4-3/16in and will allow for my 50-52 mm prop for my 1500kv motor.

Oh, do you like my “work lights” I installed? Really helps see inside this black hull!!

Graphics overhaul

Here I show my ?wave Goblin? graphics I designed, cut and applied.
I got me a vinyl cutter and with my graphics design skills, I was able to draft up these designs and make them look pretty good.
