I am currently using 2x2s turnigy 5000mah 40c they work fine but they get pretty warm, warmer than I have had on any of my other boats plus I'm using ec5 connectors and they get quite warm. The ecs is barely warm to the touch though so I was wondering what c rating everyone is using? I have some 25c 5800mah 2s batteries that I would like to use but I'm not sure they would hold up.
What c rating pacs are people using?

I got 30 C zippys --- not so good
I got 40 C turnigys -- better
I have 30 C GensAce - Kick Ace Good!!!
All are 5000 Mah, except GensAce is 5300 Mah
I will never fool with zippys again. They run 10 MPH slower, come back hot and puffy.
GensAce out preforms all, they come back cooler, and GPS out a few more MPH faster.
My boat runs them hard.
twin, 34 inch, Aeromarine Sprintcat.
Two CC 1520 motors, T180 ESC,s
447 props
Running 6S, 5000Mah 1P on each motor.
The boat runs 70+ MPH
Motors come back warm
ESC's run quite warm, but not hot.
I highly recomend GensAce from HobbyPartz.

So why in the world does the manual state 25C???
I'm running Thunder Power 5400 35C and they get warm (I'm thinking 120 might even be too warm?)
I originally bought some Hyperion 5400 35C but they were just a little too long to lay flat so I switched to 5000 25C but haven't tried these yet. I've always had good performance with Hyperion but I'm a little worried about the 25C now and it was $100 for the pair!Comment

I checked the manual yesterday to see if it stated 25c and it does so I gave my turnigy 5800mah 25c a go for 5 mins and they seemed fine so will give them a whirlComment

Just came in from a run at mostly full throttle with the 2 x 5400 35C Thunder Powers and 5 minutes or so afterwards getting temps from 125 to almost 140 depending on the area.
Edit: and to answer my own question I did some research and according to Thunder Power 160 is the MAX temp and it looks like a lot of heli guy's packs run in the 140 to 160 range for hard 3D.
I quit looking at cheap packs like those at HobbyKing after learning that Hyperions are excellent quality, usually cheaper than the OEM and name brands PLUS my LHS stocks them at prices as good or better than online. Having said that, I have mostly been running smaller packs <2000mah for my aircraft and as much as these large lipos cost I'm going to start looking at HobbyKing packs again lol!Last edited by Markhpnc; 08-01-2011, 07:27 AM.Comment
