    New motor in the v3

I am going to install a leopard 3674 1700kv motor in my miss geico v3.As I am new to this can anyone out there advise me on prop size for 6s running please. The dynamite 2000kv motor is roasting after a 4 minute run on 6s hence the change.

What prop are you running now? What temp is "roasting"?

The Dynamite motor is now most likely ruined due to overheating. The new motor is much more appropriate for 6S power. Are you still using the stock prop and ESC? We need to know this to give you a meaningful answer.

This is is a common mistake, running a boat after a mod until it gets too hot. The prudent thing to do is to run the new setup for one minute and check for temps. Then cool it down and run for two minutes and check temps. Repeat adding a minute until the temps reach 120-130*F, this is your maximum run time. Use a timer to prevent overheating.

All this takes time and most will be too busy to do it. But it is the way to prevent most thermal damage to you boat's electrical system.

Dig in to the BJ and MG V3 threads to read about all of the various props people have used on 6S. Me personally, I ran a x440/3 on 6S with the stock 2000kv motor and the boat ran great. Definitely at the peak of what the stock system could handle. I also ran a x642 on 4S that I've seen others use with 6S and lower kv upgraded motors.

Thanks for that fweasel I shall try both those props you mention.I have just noticed that the inlet pipe on the water jacket goes to the top nipple with the outlet at the bottom..That goes against all I learnt while plumbing.Air is always bled from the top.I have now reversed the water pipes.I am going to try it at the weekend to see if it has improved the motor cooling.

Yes, I reversed my plumbing from out of the box as well. I also plumbed the ESC inline first, then the motor, but the x440/3 ran the motor a little too warm. I put the motor before the ESC and the temps were better.

I ran the boat and the motor the motor got hot but nowhere as hot as before.Lowering the timing and altering the pipes has made it run cooler but not cool enough.Have you any advice on a prop for a leopard 3674 1700kv motor.I am more interested in punch out of the corners rather than top speed.I have to ask as I know nothing about props at all being new to this game. All the threads on props I have read apply to the 1900kv motors nobody seems to run the 1700kv.

You're going to have a VERY bad time. Too much motor, too much voltage or kv.

How about leopard 4074 on 4s with a 440/3 prop, owner posted speeds of 70mph in Geico 29 v3?

I did 60mph on 6S with a 440/3 prop on the stock 2000kv motor. I'm no expert, but doing that on 4S seems a little optimistic. What kv was the 4074 motor?
