2013 PB MG 29 BL - Lipo Recommendations

I got a new PB MG 29 - came with the 1500k motor and the 60A ESC -

Says it can handle 4s dual battery setup - Does that mean it will do 2x 2s Lipos? Not 2x 4s, correct?

Any recommendation on the C Rating? I'm assuming 25c or 30c?

I have a PB Shockwave 26BL v3 too, and I love it so i'm excited for the MG.

    Thanks Guys!

    Follow up / continuation -

Looking at 20c, 2s 5400mah lipo. Seems that those will provide 108A max draw EACH which is way over the 60A the ESC Will draw -

Is that cool? I can't imagine staying under that 60A continuous load with two lipos.

Then again, maybe i'm thinking of it wrong. Thanks!

First, two 2S packs in series to make 4S does not double the amps the pack can deliver. Most agree that you cannot trust the 'C' ratings on most LiPos. My recommendation is to get nothing lower than 35C, even for relatively low-draw applications like the MG 29. Too, the ESC does not draw anything, the motor does. It is not uncommon for racers to draw well over 75 amps with that motor spinning a large prop. Usually the ESC is under-rated a bit and handles it.

All the power in an FE boat is in the packs, the motor just converts electrical energy into rotational energy. Spend a little bit more on higher quality packs, you will thank us.

Can you elaborate what cheap packs you have?

Zippy, hunger, smc, gens ace, the list goes on and on. There's only like 5 manufacturers in the world that are allowed to make lipo cells. That should tell you something.

I've had good luck with Venom packs so far - been pretty happy there.

Haha, I have a few of them as well, can't beat the lifetime warranty. That's all venom does now is batteries and chargers. Most of the users here like dinogylipos. I've yet to try them, but I'm sure they're great too.
