Miss Geico V2 stock setup go faster

Hi this is my first post here on the site.

I know this has probably been discussed before but after 3 hours searching I have been unable to come up with a straight answer.

I want to know if my miss geico v2 can run a 2s and 3s lipo combination.

From what i read the original MG had different connectors and esc's that would not allow the use of 5s power without some modification.

I really don't want to go changing out the esc and motor since I am just using it for fun, but i still want that wow this thing is fast experience.

Right now I am running 2 - 2S, 50C, 5200mAh speedpack lipo batteries. I would like to just be able to buy 2 more 3S batteries and have 2 sets of batteries to run.

Can this be done?

I wouldn't mind buying a prop either if that would help. Thanks for any advise given. I am still learning.

The first thing you need to do is change all of the connectors to at least 5.5mm bullets. Then you start upgrading other things.

The next thing you should do is get a sharpened and balanced x642 prop. With the stock motor, esc, and 2 2S1P packs in series (which makes 4S1P), the boat will have really nice speed and still run cool. I race with this config.

If you move up to 5S, you will probably burn out the ESC. But to answer your question, you can use one 2S and one 3S to make 5S in series PROVIDED the packs are the same capcity and C rating.

Try the prop upgrade. The stock plastic prop is pretty weak.

I'm new to RC boats but once I want to speed up my miss geico I'm planning to acquire pro boat blackjack parts, it supports 6S and has same hull as miss geico (I presume).

Hi,
One other thing I forgot to mention on my earlier post-- the stock ESC has the throttle curve set default to "Logrithmic", which maxes out at 85% throttle. Change that to "Linear" to enable 100% throttle-- that will make a big difference too.

Between setting the stock ESC correctly and using a proper prop (and having a good strut/COG setup), the stock miss geico can move pretty fast on 4S on the stock power system. You may want to try those things first before buying new lipos and upgrading the ESC.

If you decide you really want to run on 6S, I would think about a 120-180A ESC, not an 80A ESC.

Yes, the programming card.
While you are at it, my recommended settings are:

Throttle Reverse: OFF*
Cutoff Voltage: HIGH
Cutoff Type: (either setting ok)
Brake: OFF
Timing: LOW
Throttle Curve: LINEAR

* while your boat supports Reverse, if you run it in Reverse you risk "unwinding" the flex cable which can cause binding in the stuffing tube and tear up the liner. If you keep it enabled, just blip it and use it only when stuck in the weeds...(emergency use only)

Thats good to know about reverse. Does the linear setting make a really noticable difference? 15% more throttle is quite a bit. I cant wait to see the difference with the prop and reprogramming.

Linear makes a big difference since you can get to full throttle. I also prefer a liner curve on the throttle anyway-- log just feels funky to me. That setting is there for beginners who have a hard time managing throttle input.

So I got the programming card today, followed the instructions exactly, the esc beeped once to confirm it had accepted the programming and, now the throttle doesn't work.
I tried it several more times including putting the settings back to stock but i can't get it to spin the prop, rudder works fine though. Please help.

Just have to ask, did you make sure you unplugged a battery for a few seconds after programming?

If so do you even get the start up tones when turned on?

Sorry I never replied after my last post, I guess I was just soo excited that I got it working I never went back.

Anyway the esc programmer worked great! huge difference. I also recently purchased the octura x642 prop from this site. However last week I used the boat and after I was done forgot to take the batteries out and here is the result.




Sooooooo, needless to say I need some new batteries which gets me thinking why spend another $100 on 2 new 2s batteries when I could get 2 new 3s batteries instead.

I would be upgrading my esc which creates a few more questions.

1. Which esc should I use for 6s? I see some people use the leopard 180a but it is out of stock everwhere I look. I found a turnigy 120a for a decent price. What other options are there?
2. Will I be happy with the 6s and the stock 1500kv motor? (Note, I thought the thing was crazy to begin with.)
3. What batteries would you recommend ?

Well for anyone interested. I dove in all the way and purchased two 8400mah 50-80c discharge 3s Turnigy Lipo batteries. To handle those bad Larrys I got a Turnigy 120 amp esc, and threw on my octura prop. The following is the result.

This was actually the third (and worst) time I flipped it in a span of less than 10 minutes. I had a bit of a headwind and that's all it took to send her flying. I gotta say one thing for proboat though, they put out a solid product. That boat was moving pretty fast when it hit the water upside down. The covers all stayed on every time and no damage was done.
