    Soaked MG

I just about sank my MG in salt water does any 1 know what I can dry out and still use or do I have to dump all the electronics. it was 3/4 sunk for about 20 minutes.
g I rinsed every thing out with fresh water and soaked the motor and esc in fresh eater also. All the electronics are sitti in a bag of rice hoping it will soak up all the moisture.
also what is going to happend to my batteries ?

It is not a U boat,

Spray the motor down with WD-40 and let soak,
Then blow it out with air or just let dry in the sun or blow dry it out,
But not to close too it.
Did you test lipo's yet to see if they still had any volts in them ?
Then rinse the lipo's out in water a few times and hope for the best and than let them dry good in the sun or blow dry to.
    ? ONLY IF THEY WORK

Yeah all you can do is rinse in freshwater and hope for the best. Wd40 or similar helps to. Unfortunately the rice may soak up the moisture, but will leave the salt behind, which is corrosive. You want to get the salt out by rinsing, then spray with something to displace water and keep from rusting.

You can buy Salt Terminator or Salt-Away at most local marine stores/marinas. It comes in concentrate or ready mixed spray. It is made for real boats (all metals and fiberglass) and fishing equipment so it should be compatible with the MG29's parts. I probably wouldn't recommend soaking the electronics or servo in it, but you could probably spray them off, lightly, or wipe down the contacts with it. Might be ok (again, not 100% sure) to dunk the motor in it, and then rinse with freshwater and then follow up with something like WD-40. I've used it on real boats (including spraying down the engine) and never had any problems .... just another thought.

The motor is an open can design, after the rinse and spray, it will be ok. I would take the servo apart and spray either corrosion-x or any other that is recommanded here. The servo is not water tight and any salt water will severely corrode the inside working parts. The case needs to be open in order for any moisture to come out, even a fresh water dunking warrants that, don't ask me how I know!
Check all electrical contact points carefully, usually after a submerge in water, there is green colored corrosion immediately! This will be on servo plugs, ESC signal wire plugs, battery terminals, also the Lipo balancing plugs! I used battery corrosion chemicals from auto parts store with a tooth brush to clean away that green stuff but it is so stubborn that I had to use a hobby knife to scrape very carefully.
My batteries were ok meaning they still worked but they won't hold the voltage well, the ESC would hit LVC in less than a minute after the bath in water. They were , in the final analysis destroyed. They were brand new Thunder Power lipos, BTW.
Too many boats, not enough time...

Thank you all. I didnt want to take any chances so I replaced the servo and the receiver. Upgraded the stock servo with the waterproof Traxxas 2075 servo and i put a futaba receiver in. I didnt get a chance to try my batteries but every thing else seemed to work. I just received my T180a ESC all I need now is a back up motor so when this stock decides to quit I can drop a better motor in.
Does any have any ideas for a 5s 180a set up ? im looking too buy a motor that will take MG to 60 mph ?
