    Blackjack 29

Im new to RC boating but have experience in basic RC. I need everyones opinions on my Blackjack 29. I am replacing everything inside except the radio. Leopard 4074 1650 kv motor is going in. Hyrda ice 240 esc going in. Maxamps 3s 6500 mah x2 for 6s power is going in. I sharpened and balanced the prather 215 clone prop that came with the boat. Also ordered a x640 and x642. I plan on a 9 inch cog from transom, aswell as adjusting prop height. I would appreciate everyones input and thoughts on this setup, and any other prop recommendations.

Lol well im a newb to boats, but have run the maxamps in my Heli and buggies, even in a baja 5b with castel creation conversion on 8s. I heard about the maxamp scam but in the past have had goodluck with the batteries they supplied for me. Im not advertising for maxamps, just sticking with goodluck. Thanx for input. Any other ideas on setup ?

i believe you'd have good luck. why not? i don't really know that there is anything wrong with max amps except for the price. if that doesn't bother you, why not get them?

The requirement for boat batteries are far far different from the requirement of other rc vehicles, nothing else I am familiar with draws the amperage a boat does, people on here have run just about every brand of battery you can buy and only a few of them have proven themselves to stand up to the abuse from boating.
I started out thinking batteries wouldn't make much difference and went with all cheapies, I have one single pack out of them that will still work, my packs that cost 2x as much so far have lasted 3x longer and are still going. WOuld have been farther ahead to buy better batteries the first time around.
When you run a datalogger you really begin to see the difference in battery quality, the cheaper ones drop much more voltage under load which in turn puts more stress on the motor and esc. Done back to back tests between Gens ACe and Polyquest, the GA drop over a volt more under load, Kendt had the exact same results with GA 6s packs he tested. No more Gens ACe for me, two guys logging their runs with very different setups and both showed the exact same voltage drop.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Can I offer to buy your blue Stock motor if it isn't used?? That is once you are sure on your plans...

            Thanks !

Dinogy LIPOS are really awesome batteries. You won't be dissapointed.

That is a starting point. You always learn alot more by experimentation.

Talking about batts and -position in the BJ29 hull, the plywood batt trays are a major weak point inside the hull. My boat ran over three/four small ripples in an otherwise smooth canal and when it came back, the trays broke loose and were sliding back and forth. It's a rather easy fix with some resin or CA glue, but they are really flimsy and weak... Otherwise, great boat. See pic of mine with a GoPro for some action footage...

I had same thing happen w battery trays! But love the hulls just bounse a bit. I'm a newbee but we are running a Geico 29 & BJ 29. We ran stock BJ on power edge (2) 5000mah 3s 11.1v 35c. I just wrecked the MG so tryin to decide to replace w/ same or try Genesis 41" hull. What speed are you getting w/ that set up?
ProBoat 29 Blackjack stock & Miss Geico 29 (wrecked at the moment)
