MG29 coupler to flexshaft alignment ??

Relatively new to the FE rc boat world, but hopefully this is a simple question. What is the best way to get the alignment set from the motor to the flexshaft? So far, what I have done is completely loosen the collet from the flexshaft and then turn the flexshaft until it turns without any binding in the collet (the piece still connected to the motor) while I have the motor mount screws just snug enough that I can make some adjustment. On my particular MG29, I need to have the motor as far forward as it can go to get at best, ~1.5 mm clearance back at the drive dog/nylon washer/strut, so most of my adjustment is with the 2 screws into the motor, not the motor mount relative to the tray. Is that an acceptable way to set the alignment? I also try to sight down the teflon liner and get it as centered in that tube, as well.

Also, tonight, I raised the prop strut so that the bottom of the strut was even with the bottom of the hull, as some had suggested, trying to eliminate some of the "hop" on my new, completely stock MG29 (only has six 4-5 minute runs on it, so far). Out of the box, the center of the propshaft was even with the bottom of the hull and I have the CG set at ~ 30% (~9" from transom), per the manual. With the strut raised, most of the hop was gone, but I had more water spray inside the tupperware lid than anytime in the past - it has always been completely dry. I don't know if those two are related or not, but it was noticable/different. I clean/grease the flexshaft every 2 runs (every 8-10 minutes of run time), so I don't think it was lack of greasing the shaft .... any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Bob
