I am running my Miss Geico with the original 1500 kv motor and a Seaking 120A ESC. I have 2 water intakes; 1 for the motor and 1 for the ESC. After running at 5S for about 4 minutes I check the temps. The motor and batteries are in the 112 to 114 range. The 5 MM bullet connectors are at about 130. The main body of the ESC is 112 to 114 range, but if I check the temp right at the capacitor at the very end, it is almost 160. Is this OK? If not, what could cause this since all the other temps are good?

It is normal for the caps to run hotter than the actual ESC.Grand River Marine Modellers

How long between the time you shut off the motor to the time you actually measure the ESC? The ESC cools off pretty fast, the caps hold their temperature longer. How long are your power wires between the battery pack and the ESC board? Long wires mean hot caps....

Hot ESC
It only takes about 2 minutes to pull the boat from the water and pop the hatch.
The wires on the Seaking 120A are 5 inches long to the 5mm bullet connector. The wires on the battery are 4 inches long.Comment

I've seen people solving the overheating of caps by installing additional caps, in order to share the workload.Comment

Someone else mentioned adding caps, but that might be beyond my capabilities. I only recently learned how to properly solder the 5mm bullet connectors.
Do you think 160 on the cap is too high and do I need to worry about it?Comment

Not sure what is the max safe temp for caps. Someone else will give you the answer for thatComment
