Fried new aquacraft 60 amp esc and 2030 kv motor

I just upgraded my PBS miss geico with an aquacraft 60 amp esc and a ul1 motor 2030 kv.
I also was using an octura x642 prop with 2 2s 5000 nanotechnology batteries. And when I armed the system no beeps but the motor and rudder worked. I put it in the water and it was very doggy for a second or two and the motor quit but the rudder still worked. One quick sqeeze of the rudder and black goo shot all over the inside of mt boat. I know the esc is shot but is the motor also? Should I return both or is it just an esc? The motor and shaft spinn very easy and there seems to be no binding. Thanks for your help. Johnny

what is the source of the black goo ?
did it come from Both the ESC and the motor ?

Is this a new esc and motor or previously used? Is the esc the older version with the small cap or the newer version with the larger cap?

The black goo came from the esc

When the Aquacraft ESC goes , it has been know to take the motor with it. I would try to return both.

It's a new esc and motor and the esc has a large cap
