    timeing esc

    Finaly moving up the ladder
    Got myself a 36 56 2030kv ul1 motor
and a Turnigy Marine 180A Brushless Boat ESC
Got a can of spray electrical tape and water proofed it all
now just unsure of what timing to use with my x642 and 4 cells was thinking 15.00
as I thought I read that here but cant find again
If I raise the timing Im guess speed gos up as well as heat the next step up is 18.75 and down is 11.25
Advice from the gallery please dont want to fry new esc first time out

to add to my question then if I drop the 1800 kv proboat stilleto motor in the same set up would i stay with the same settings
    Thanks for your opinions

7.5 or 11.25 (prob 11.25) would be best. To give you a reference the stock ul1 esc which is what that motor is matched with is defaulted to 10.

No increasing the timing does not always increase the speed. Timing is relative to a few different things, mostly wind type (delta or wye), number of poles, esc brand even has a play... ect ect ect....

Depending on the load you may or may not see a difference in top end using 15 degrees versus 11 degrees. Ten degrees is "stock" timing. The amount of timing these 2030 Kv motors like depends only on the amp draw - the higher the draw, the more advance required. 18 is a lot and you will probaby be better off with 11.
