    My Geico runnin strong

Well I have got the bugs worked out and finally got the cog workin for me. It was tough finding the sweet spot on this boat. Very little movement of the batteries or the strut makes a huge difference. I now have the batteries 1 inch from the end of the battery tray and the strut is 1mm from being level with sponsons. In this video I am running the Leo 4074 1400kv with a seaking 180, 40c 4000 3s packs in series. My prop is a octura x442 s&b and some cupping and the prop has been thinned. My fastest pass in this video was 54.9 on the gps.

Here are some pics of mine along with one video. Mine is using a 4082 2200kv on 6s turning an x645. Never gpsed it since I don't have a gps but I did do a timed speed run over a 620 foot distance and was happy with the results. They were right in there with what the speed calculator here on O.S.E. gave me.

No ducks in my pond but the guys in the canoe were not as smart as the ducks in mikeochs video.

Glad to see that no ducks were injured during the filming of your video.

Nice Boat. I was thinking of throwing in the same motor and esc setup as u in my MG. Were u able to get the stock tupperware liner to fit since the can is taller then the stock motor? Do i need to upgrade any other parts? Flex Shaft, Motor mounts, etc? Thanks.

Yes. All I did for the tupperware liner is I used a blow dryer to heat it up enough to re shape it slightly as to be able to fit the motor and water jacket under it. Just be careful not to over heat it. Some say you don't have to upgrade motor mounts for this motor but I did just to play it safe. I used the ose-80600 found here at O.S.E. and cut the fiberglass parts of the motor mount in half as to just use the rear part of the 80600 mount to hold the rear of the motor and still use the original motor mount to support the front of the motor in effect spreading the area supporting the motor over a larger area.

                Hope this helps

Thanks. I have a couple of more questions. Do you upgrade the flex shaft for this motor? Did you have to cut the motor shaft so the motor could fit? Thank You

Yes, I forgot I did cut the shaft and finished it off by sanding the end of the shaft to make the cut end as flat as possible as to not throw the balance off when it spins. I don't know that this is critical but every little bit you can do to improve performance can't hurt.

As to the flex shaft I used an upgraded shaft and in my case it came apart in the middle of the lake causing me to lose a $40 prop not to mention the shaft. I went back to the original flex shaft and haven't had a problem since. That's not to say that will happen if I try an upgraded flex shaft again but to answer your question the stock shaft has worked fine for me. I do keep the flex shaft well greased.

P.S. I bought a second MG and for some reason the Leopard motor fits under the tupperware just fine in that one. The other one has a Nem. Gold motor in it. I know they have a few more winds so they may be a tad bit longer than the Leopard motors but I don't think so. I think each boat is just a little bit different as to how far forward the canopy sets on the hull.

                        Ecoovert,

What are you running for batteries in your mg on 6s with the 2200kv motor?

I'm using 2 x Turnigy 30c and 35c lipos in 4000mah and 5000mah configuration. I also just started using 35c 4000mah Nanotech packs which can surge all the way up to 70c for 10 seconds. I'll see how they do as my other packs have begun to swell. I may have to step up to 50c as this setup works the batteries hard.

Thanks, Im looking at a couple options.. Zippy 3s 5000mah 45c, Turnigy Nano Tech 3s 5000mah 45c-90c or the 65c-130c. The Zippy's are cheaper but I dont know if the 65-130 nanos would be over kill. How does the Seaking 180 hold up. I'm debating on that or the fightercat 8s 240a esc just to be safe.

The Seaking 180 will handle the power just fine. The other day in 88 degree weather it provided plenty of punch and after running a full lipo pack through it with the setup I mentioned above it only reached 121 degrees. That's well within the safe range. There are plenty of great reviews on the Seaking 180. Once My boat completely flooded because one of my cooling hoses had become disconnected. The Seaking esc was completely under water for 15 to 20 minutes. It took me that long to get back into radio range so I could drive my boat back. The rear of the boat was completely under water and I was still able to drive it safely back to shore. When they say this esc is practically bullet proof, they mean it.
