    Batteries question

I have the proboat miss geico with a turnigy 180 amp esc, leopard 4074 2200 kv. I need to get batteries next. The vids on youtube that run 5s are a great
Speed for me. Do I get (2) 5s 45c 5000 packs and run it in series? or does (2) 5s packs equal 10s and that would blow everthing up. Thanks for the help!

Series doubles the voltage, so it would be 10s. You have to run parralell to keep the same voltage but it doubles the mAh.

DOn't run 5s on that motor. Run 4s2p. Running 5s consistently your asking for problems. Anything higher then 4s on that motor is SAW territory and reliability goes downhill. You want 2 4s batteries in parallel.

Thanks for the help. is a better motor available that can handle 5s 2p? Or should I stick with that motor?

Why is it you want to run 5S? Did you already order batteries or? xxxx kv motor on 5S can do the same speed a higher kv motor on 4S will do. The 4S will just draw more amps. I agree 100% w/ Diesel, 2200 4S2P and that boats going to be nice and fast. I run a 2200 in a Pursuit on 4S2P and run 53mph. Things get warm but it does it. If you want to run 5S2P, remember, your going heavier now etc and will they fit? You may have to go w/ a 3S one side and a 2S on the other in series for 5S. Run times will be short though.

If you havent pulled the wood out of the boat and lowered the trays you will really have problems trying to run 5S packs. I ran 4S 4000s while it was all stock and had just enough room to get them in and out. I wanted to try 5000s and they wouldnt fit. So out came the heat gun and pliers, a few yanks twists and pulls and she was stripped. Did it like this and now I have a bit more room. Still not dure how 5S would work though.

right now I have a brand new proboat miss geico that has never been used. I wanted to upgrade her so I ordered the turnigy 180 amp esc. Now trying to
Decide on what motor, batteries, and prop. Im not really interested in major modifications to the boat to make her go fast. The only reason I brought up 5s
Is I saw some vids on youtube. The boat had great top speed and power on the 5s setup. Maybe those guys on youtube will have issues. I really appreciate
            The advise.

I think Id stay 4S just for fitment purposes and that you can run 2P. If you go 5S like I said, you will have to run a 3S and a 2S for a total of 5S. My Geico runs 43 on 4S2P and it seems like its screaming. heres a friend and I bashing yesterday. Exact same set ups. Stock motor, M445 prop, upgraded ESCs. I had a T-180 in mine and am now doing some esc testing for fightercat. This boat will fly on a 2200 and 4S.

If you have a brand new boat unused, I would suggest running it stock for while. There is nothing at all wrong with the stock setup at all. If you have new esc coming slap it in and use it and run the boat stock motor on 4s with a m445. The seaking esc has better throttle response the stock esc. Change the stock connectors to 5.5mm and dump the deans. Once you get good with the boat on 4s with the stock motor you can run 5s1p on the stock motor just prop down to like a grim 42x55. I would focus stock motor on 4s for a while though. Just my 2 pennies.

Awesome vids. Ill run the 4s packs. Will two 5000 mah packs fit? If I upgrade the motor is the 4074 2200kv any better or worse than the cc 3424 1800kv? You
                  Guys are a huge help!

Not without removing the wood in the boat and installing a new motor mount etc. And they're a bit heavy. I prefer the 4s 4000s. 4000s are going to give you 8000mah total and they fit with no modifications.

3424 can swing a 48mm prop with no issues on 4S, 2P with a T-180. 2200 will heat things up a bit and be limited on prop size.

Too bad to the castle motors are so expensive. I found a leopard 4074 2200 kv for $90 on ebay. The cc 3424 1800 kv seems to be about $150 and none in
                        Stock.

Thanks chiefy! Im looking at ebay for the leo 4074 2200kv and sellers have the extension of im145,im 166,im 515. Do I need to worry about this. Seems like
All the specs are the same.

you can buy a leo 4074 cheap new, steve here has a combo unit cheap enough i think i paid about $90 for my leo 4074's then i had to get the water jackets on top already had the esc, also you could look for a castle 151 1y out of any 1/8th scale buggy, alternative to the leo are the tacon, the keda cheap but seem to be ok, i think these are built to the same standards as the leopard
