CC Hydra Ice 240, good chioce for MG w/ Leopard 4082--2200kv?

Hi, I blew the leopard 120A ESC on my first run with 6s Lipo, the motor is 4082, Kv=2200. Oh yea, she was flying fast! I guess I deserved it because that was too much, that ESC is exactly a twin version of the SEAKING 120A. I was using x642 prop. Now that I read more here I realized little knowledge is dangerous/stupid . I am torned between a Seaking 180A and the CC HydraIce240, the latter is three times the price but i wonder if it will save me three times the grief down the road. Any advice?

The 2200Kv on 6S is all the way to the danger zone (enter top gun theme music)! If you get the 240 esc next you may just fry the motor if you run it a lot.
I'd get a 180 esc and drop it down to 5S you will be safer and it will still fly.

Thanks, Just what I will do, I figure it was in the danger zone, good thing was that I didn't know--ignorance is bliss.. I ordered the 180 esc from OSE and a cap bank, and will heed your advise!

        tlandauer,
how did you mount your 4082? I'm looking to put the same motor in my mg but wasn't sure it would fit. Do you have a pic?

          Hi,
I found the only thing that wasn't a100% fit was the Tupper Ware inner lid which i used a heat gun to deform the front where it touched the motor, the motor fits perfectly and there is still room to work around. Since I last posted here i waited until I got the Seaking 180A and a bunch of 5.5mm plugs, 10 Ga wire to make a bridge between the batteries. I had serious doubts about my soldering skills so at first I was reluctant to change everything to 5.5mm, but after several people including Steven V convinced me that this is the only way to go, I went ahead and did it. I also made an anti spark loop for the setup, the micro plug you see dangling beside the main positive lead is it. Now, there is one dirty secrect: Steven here at OSE advised me to desolder the 4mm plug that came with the motor, i looked at it and thought I will do more damage to desolder then resolder, so I soldered the 5.5 plugs (male) OVER THE 4mm plugs. Purists here from the forum will shake their heads but i really didn't think this would be within my capability. I have a video clip someone else did near the end of my run, you might get an idea what the setup will be like. I am using 2xThunder Power 5000mah 45C G6 Pro Performance 2s 7.4v. I realized with 2200kv on 6s is way too hot, so I settled for 4s and I am using BEC feature on the Seaking 180A.

The photo attachments got miss placed in the middle, also the video may not work, sorry, it is my first time up loading. If you can't get the video, use the youtube site and try Tims Miss Geico, see if that works. By the way, after my 4 to 5 min. run the temp on the motor was just warm and the Seaking 180A was barely warm, I checked the temp in between. (every other min. or so) Good luck and have fun. let me know what you end up with!

vid looks really smooth. I'm goin go with the 4082 (if I can find one) and the sk180 is on order. also ordered ose's Hyperion 40c's that I'm going to run 4s2p. Allthough I don't think I'll be able to resist putting a 5s set up in it at some point. What are you doing for cooling? I've yet to get consistent info there. Some guy's are all out twin lines and others say no problem with stock?

I am not experiencing any issues yet, maybe I haven't run long enough. I saw alot of volume coming out of the stock setup. Until then I think i am going to leave it alone, by the way I use x642 prop.

Okay so I've been convinced on the thread I started to go to the 4074(also that one is in stock)but I'm still thinking I should run 2 cooling lines as I run most of the summer in very hot water 85-90+*F. Any one have any more input on cooling? Thanks for all the help
