Straight up answer no boat builder bla bla

After reading and reading and reading this forum I am more confused now than when I started.
So I’m going to give you my take and then PLEASE correct me if and were i'm wrong

I am running a stock MG exept for prop x642 (done fantastically by the ice329)
    I run 2 2s 5300 packs in series

Everyone here seems to say run 4s packs in parallel you will get longer run times. I don’t know if it will be faster but will run longer

My thinking is if I run 4s packs I’ve doubled my battery weight thereby slowing down the boat. So now I need a bigger motor to make up the speed, but then I need bigger batteries to run the bigger motor and so on so on

So does moving up to 4s really make it worth the price or should I just buy more (inexpensive 2c) and change them every 9 minutes as this is the run time I’m getting with this set up.

And not to open another can of worms but do I need to upgrade to 5m plugs and to what advantage to I gain if I stay stock by changing

I truly thank you all for your insight

4S2P certainly give you more run time. It also helps keep the "punch" in the boat. It will run just as fast from what I found and also makes this particular hull handle better IMO.

5.5s will help keep the resistance down which in turn keeps heat down in all components. Will also allow you to swing a larger prop and run even faster. Im running stock motor but have upgraded my ESC and Im in the low 40s. If I remember correctly I ran 38mph on a detongued and cupped 642.

Hope there was no builder blah blah in that.

i gps'd the exact same set up, one using 4s2p and the other 4s1p. the lighter packs came in with the number at 47.6 and the 2p set up was 47. Not really a big difference and it could have just been that particular run. I do like 4s 2p but i think the 5000 4s packs i have are almost a little too much weight. The outside sponson really digs into the corners and you will flip if not careful. Ive been thinking about ordering some 4s 4000 mah packs to use in LSO so i have plenty of leeway with the 4 min heats.
I really like 4s1p with some ballast up in the bow, seems to be the fastest in the corners while still being really stable. I was running with full size boats in the water the other day and my spectators were really impressed with the way it was handling the chop and how hard it cornered.

Ive always run 4000mah 30C packs. PLENTY of power and run time for a 4 min LSO heat. I ran 4S 5000s for the first time this past weekend, but it was in some nasty chop. Un-raceable water, but the extra weight obviously worked because I way out performed a MC running lighter packs. I havent run a LSO race yet using 5000s, but plan on next meet in a couple weeks. Ill post back my thoughts.

You'd be well advised to make the 5.5 gold plugs your first investment. The Deans may be rated to a bit over 50 amps, but your setup pulls more than that now. And as the Deans wear (quickly) their resistance increases; the heat is power from your battery that is not going to the motor.
