how do i run 4s in my mg

how do i run 4s in my mg if proboat says it can only handle 2 2s packs, i would hate to but two 2s packs and its not enough

like i read all the old threads about series and parallel what the difference in both and what the disadvantages and advantages

OK, it's pretty simple...

If you buy 2 2S packs, which is what is recommended... and plug them into the existing connectors, you will have 4S1P plugged in and be running 4S. They will be more than enough!

IF you wanted to run them in parallel, you'd have to modify the connectors to make it happen, AND you'd only be running 2S2P... which would be 1/2 the voltage, meaning 1/2 the RPM, and much slower setup, but with twice the runtime... MUCH slower, however...

Do yourself a favor... Just buy some good 2S packs with Dean's on them, hook them up as recommended, and go blast around the lake at 35mph... Then get some props, prop up a bit, and play around and have fun... You'll be glad you did!

ok man thanks, i was looking at the venom or max amps lipos
so what would happen if i ran two 3s or 4s lipos? in series or parallel

is it ok to get the mystic if im not racing, i was told it doesnt turn left very good

ok proboat told me the mystic will have a hard time turning left with the offset rudder to get the gieco if i dont plan on racing

I'm not sure who you are talking to at ProBoat, but they don't know what they are talking about....

I'm pretty sure that the ProBoat "help" line is just a generic Horizon call center and they don't really know that much about boats... I'll have to see about fixing some of these mis-conceptions...

The Mystic finished 4th overall out off 17 some odd entries at the 2011 NAMBA FE Nats in Offshore, so it turns JUST FINE to the left!

Is the ESC really smart enough limit it? I changed the connection to just the R & B wire going into one EC5 then added a parrell connector that I then plug 2 x 4s into. I do notice the ESC reprograms itself when I do this vs running the 2s in series. Speed seems about the same and the 8 cells appear to discharge evenly over the 10min run?

Tony, I just replied to your PM. Should straighten out all your confusion. What proboat should have said was 14.8volts. Than can be 2-2S packs or 2-4S packs depending on how you wire it. I go in depth in reply to your PM.

there were 2 geigo's in the show at the nats and there was no difference between the green ones with the 1800kv motors and the white one with the 1800kv motor it was exp that got it to 4th place not that it turned better...... its almost the exact same boat and all if u change the motor in the geigo....... if i had to do it over again id take the mystic anythime...it comes already modded to have speedy fun.....

I talked to ProBoat today and they are going to correct what the Help department is telling people.

Either boat is excellent and are capable of similar speeds... it's going to be all about the prop and setup.
