    Best battery option for MG

Hello I´m Ørjan, from Norway. New to the forum and new to Rc boats. I got the Miss Geico of course and have tested it a couple of times now, have to work out the wah wahs but that´s ok. It´s great fun!! :D

I got a set of two 5200mah 2 cell battery´s and of course I think the drive time is way to short. So I´m planning getting more sets of battery´s so that I can drive for longer. Me and my brother got talking about what would be the best option.

I don´t want to play with more cells for now, worried about shorting the ESC.
But I want to ask if you guys with the knowhow what the best option for battery´s would be.

    I thought about these:

    2x 4 cell 5000mah linked in parallel.
    4x 2 cell 5000mah linked in parallel.
or just more sets of 2x 2cell 5000mah

    What do you guys think?

    Regards
    Ørjan.

More runtime is always the goal for people, but the problem with more runtime is more heat associated with it. I am a fan of 2p setup for amps reasons not extended runtime reasons, with that being said I would get more 2s batts. That gives the boat time in between runs for the electronics to cool down. Don't slap fresh batts in the boat as soon has it gets back to shore, make sure you check the temps and allow a good 10-15m between runs for everything nicely cool off, that should extend the life of your electronics. Happy boating.

      2x 4 cells, also called 4S2P.

With 4x 2 cells you increase the number of connectors required therefore the resistance, also increase the weight and it's a mess of wires in the boat, not worth it.

EDIT: Or do what Diesel said...

So more sets of 2 cell battery's then. Thanks guys! I have checked the temp and the only thing that feels a bit warm is the battery's, after the session. The watercoooling seems to work like a charm.

I'm a fan of 2 x 4s 5000's run in Parrell. I get 10-12 min of run time and right now with the water still pretty cold her in MI it runs pretty cool.

That sounds a lot more of what I think the runtime should be. Think Ill buy 2 sets of 4 cell then :)
              50 c batterys from now on :D

you hook them up in parallel so the voltage will be the same 14.8. The ESC will think its 4 cells not 8.

Look online for the different types of wiring required. The way the boat comes default is to run two packs in series. I cut that out and made one connection red & black going to a EC5 connector instead of a deans, then bought an EC5 Series Connector & EC5 Parallel Connector. Anytime I switch between the two there is a slight delay with the stock speed control resyncing itself to the new set up but it works fine.

About half way down the page you can see the EC5 ver that I have gone with but it is easier to see what they are doing with the deans. http://kintecracing.com/Electrical.html

so right now it has 2 batteries going to one motor setup in series, what would be the benefit of running it parallel

                          Longer run times.. In my case I have 2 4s 5000's instead of 2 x 2s 5000's. Running the 4s in parallel equals 1 4s @ 10000mah vs the 2s providing only 5000mah total.
