    stock motor timing using SK180 ESC with 5 cells

    Guys,

    What is the best timing for the stock MG motor, SK180 ESC with BEC disabled and running 5 cells? Presently I've programmed it to 11.25 would 15 see a speed improvement? I have sets of 35C G3 hyperions, 40C turnigy and 45C thunder power batteries. Nothing more than warm at the moment running at 11.25 timing , but the motor is the warmer than ESC (dead cold) and batteries (slightly warm)

    Also can the throttle be calibrated and ESC reprogrammed with the BEC (red wire pulled) disabled?

    cheers,

    Gordie.

    - What's warmer then the esc?
    - What's dead cold?
    (warm and cold are different degrees to different people, did you use a temp gun and have actual numbers?)

    * I would personally stick with 11.25
    * Yes you can program the esc and throttle calibrate with the bec pulled. Will you be using the tx to program or the programming box?

    * If using the tx make sure the rx and the esc has power (lipos plugged in), if using the programming box plug the esc in the box, power the box with a rx pack and power the esc with lipos plugged in.

      Thanks Diesel, I'll stick with 11.25 timing :)

      I don't have a temp gun yet, so can't give you real numbers, but everything is cold enough to touch and leave your fingers in contact as long as you like.

      I have the programming card / box, but when I did it, I plugged ESC into box and powered the box with a spare Rx battery, didn't plug in the lipos, ESC appeared to take the programme, well at least the box gave the right symbols as per instructions. Do I need to do it again with lipos as well - as per your instructions above?

      Gordie.

        On stock motor with the 180 esc + prather 215 prop, I have 15', only thing that's warm are the bullets on the motor/esc. And yes they are 5,5mm.
