* Being new to boating, I would suggest first learning proper setup and tuning. Common error I see being made is some guys rather buy a new motor and esc and throw lots of voltage and rpm and something then wonder why it's not as fast as they thought and blows up or something fails. NOTHING BEATS A PROPER SETUP. Not the answer most guys want to here, because they want cheap speed fast and setting up a boat properly takes time and patience, but the results are much better! You want a faster boat with what your have and cheap, start blueprinting the hull and scuffing the sponsons, then work on strut angle and depth along with prop tweaking and testing. All that is cheaper then new electronics and you may be shocked and impressed with the speed results and increase in performance. Happy boating! -
Dale hit the nail on the head here Neal. For reference, I found my stock boat went about 33 or 34 mph using 2-2S 5000mah 40C batteries. Ive since made an esc change to a 120A, different prop and went to using 4S batteries in parallel and Im now approaching mid 40s. I also have prop recommendations from another member that will get me closer to 50, still on 4S and still on the stock motor. My point is, set up and tweaking is most of it. Props are cheap, relative to electronics, and OSE and others have great prices on esc's that will work well in your application.
And Id like to add, Batteries would be my next upgrade. If your staying w/ the 2S seriesed to 4S set up, Id go 40C and 5000mah. 2P you can go 30C and 4000 so they fit more easily un the boat.
EDIT, ESC change was just to handle the additional amps that the upgraded prop change draws.Comment
