    opinions please

got my new mg and as allways immediatly pulled out the stock esc &motor, the plan so far is leopard 3674 1400kv , seaking 180 on 2x3s thunder power 60c 5000mah packs and starting out with x442 prop, questions are what do u guys think about that setup? what kind of run times should i expect, and do u guys see any problems with that setup? been racing 1/8 scale offroad for over 10 yrs but new to boats. got the basics down 5.5 bullets, offset the rudder, dual water pickups. sorry for all the questions but also do i have to run a reciever pack with this setup ? and lastly whats the next step up in prop from the x442? thank you any and all info will be greatly appreciated

I think your set up will work. Im running a 1400KV 4074 ina 32" cat. I usually dont run it more than a few minutes as I do not like to let the LVC kick in. I would certainly recommend and external battery pack or UBEC. That esc is recommended only to 6S so your at its limits, running a rx pack will help it to run a little more efficiently. Also, Id probably add another cap back to the esc. Sounds like itll be fun.

Next prop if you stay in the 4xx would be a 445. Id start w/ the 442 though, then perhaps the 642. If those work well and temps are acceptable, maybe try an M445, but keep an eye on it. You may be okay w/ it.

If your unfamiliar w/ the octura prop numbers, in short, the first number is the pitch 4 or 6 being 1.4 or 1.6 pitch, the second numbers are the diameter. So a 442 is 1.4 pitch and 42mm tip to tip. You may know that, but just incase. Also, x series have the tongue and M series do not. Unfortunately, not all M series are offered, so often you have to detonge an X.

theres also several other Octura props, but mainly you will be interesed in the X and M series for your application.

    Hope that helped.

And lastly, Welcome to the Forums!!!!
