leopard 4082 will it fit mg???

I imagine it would fit. That's a mighty big motor for a 29" cat though. Why not use a 4074 motor in a different kv? I love the 4074 1774kv leopard. I am running it in a 29" skunk cat and hit 50.1mph on 4s. That motor would be good on 4s & 5s.

To be honest I bought a set 0f 3s lipos cause I wanted to run 5s but after a lot of discussion it looks like id be better off with a lower kv and since I found a new 4082 for a better price than the 4074 I'm leaning toward that.

Diesel is one of my mentors and when and if my OEM MG motor goes south, I am moving forward to a 4074 1774kv.
Honestly, these boats cook with the stock motor, upgraded ESC (120A MIN.) and a pair of 3 cells (6s)
Since replacing the factory ESC (may it rest in peace) with a 120A, the boat flys and I've had no issues. I am running a 642x but shopping for a better match on the prop.

That's why the 1774 would be better on 5s. The rpm range is in a respectable limit.

5s on a 2200 is just simply too much.

Like I mentioned in another thread you have A LOT of different props to try out on that motor, you should easily be in the 50s with that motor and the correct prop.

Hey guys, It seems like the newb (me) has found nirvana. I think you're just the group to help me get my new MG up and running for my first attempt at FE. Had a couple foam planes....but I've been boating my entire life even raced OPC outboards in the 60's. So I never got rid of the need for speed. Got a x642, batteries came in the mail today. Got the offset bracket from kintec. I think this afternoon I'll solder 5.5's on the series harness. Maybe run it the first time without the offset rudder. Batteries are 2s1p 4000mAh 40c and 2s 5000 40c on the way. I'm sure I'll be picking your brains as I go, hope you don't mind.
My ultimate goal with this boat is to get MG to run close to 60 or better and be dependable at the same time. Can it be done?

have a fire extinguisher handy for the esc ...good luck.....there is a thread on here where someone put twin motors in a mg and got either close to 60 or right at it......

I would imagine 60mph would be possible with the right setup.

Thanks for the welcome.... I live in a suburb of Philly about 5 miles from Valley Forge. I spend most weekends in the summer on our boat docked at Baltimore Inner Harbor. I plan on running MG alot there this summer. I know I'll be able to suck in some of the guys to get boats and go fly 'em up and down. I'm pretty new to RC just messed with some simple foam planes a little and always wanted a boat. I actually raced the real ones back in the late 60's outboard pleasure craft "OPC". One of the things I liked about MG is it's very scale appearance under power. I have a couple of ideas on how to get the bounce out but I did buy the Kintec bracket V2 just to cover my bases.

No need for a series harness if you are going to be using 5.5 bullets. I suppose you could but it would just be more wire. I just series my batts to each other

I made a pic. Not to sure it can be done "your" way. you would have an unnecessary wire instead of connecting the batts together.

Will this motor fit onto the stock motor mount?

It will fit the motor mount but not sure the tupperware lid will fit cause of the length. I ended up changing my motor mount and got tons of room still with the 4082

Good to see you have lots of room. Might want to arrange that motor cooling jacket so the inlet is at the lowest point and the outlet is at the highest point. This will allow water to fill up inside the jacket more.
