I recently re-powered my MG with a seaking 180 and a leopard 4074 2200kv.Just out of curiosity what timing in degrees are people with similar setups running?

I run my leopards at 15*, works good for me on my 4074 2200kv and 4074 1774kv both on seaking esc's. Your seaking 180 should be default at 15* if im not mistaken. You should verify to check anyway though. -
No problem. Make sure you get some video with your new setup. What prop you plan on running with that?Comment

The 4074 Leopards are "Y" winds so they can use plenty of timing advance. "D" wind Leopards should probably use less than 5 degrees timing advance. Those would be some of the 5692s and 3674 motors. Check the specs here: http://www.leopardhobby.com/enindex.asp

What batteries you plan on using? 4s2p would be best, but I never tried to stick 2 4s packs in my mg. So not sure how heavy she would be. I just ordered some 2s 6000mah 25-50c and 3s 6000mah 25-50c nano-techs from HK, dying to try them out. on 4s, 5s on my MG and 6s in my HOTR twin. (soon as I finish building it)
Try a grim 42x55 as well, I think it runs slightly better then the x642 in this hull with stock power.Comment

Yup that's an AWESOME prop. Ran that prop on my 2200kv leopard in my Pursuit 32" mono on a seaking 180. I ran that motor on 4s2p with the m445 and the motor never broke 100F! Moved up to a x447 now, soon as the weather breaks I'll test it out.

4s2p is great, your not gonna want to run anything higher then 4s on that motor though. The motor can handle the voltage, but the rpms will be way WAY to high. A safe target range for unloaded rpm should be 28-30k, (under 35k) for single motor applications. Your at 32k unloaded already which is good. 6s on that motor would be almost 50K rpm want to much. Upgrade your deans before you even run that motor, that motor pulls A LOT more amps then the deans can handle!Comment

Once again thanks for the great info!As you can tell I'm new to the FE thing and I have alot to learn. That is actually great news because I am trying to keep my hole fleet on 2s2p and around 50mph.I already have 4 pair of ose 5mm bullets, should I use these or get 5.5mm connectors?
When you get bored start reading and theirs a lot of people that know a whole lot here. Fluid from a few post above is a great source of information and knows his sh*t.
Take your time and don't rush, most importantly be safe and have FUN!Comment

Here is a low quality video of my new setup. All the lakes in my area are still frozen so my only option was a fast moving narrow river.I ordered 20 sets of 5.5mm bullets but I wont have them for a week or so.I kept my test runs timed to one minute and used the lamest batteries I own (losi 2s 20c hard packs) trying not to melt my deans. The tight running area was cramped so I had a hard time opening her up.Comment
