    Stuffing tube question??

Can anyone tell me why I can't get a .150 Teflon liner in the stuffing tube. The .130 fits in, but then my flex shaft doesn't fit.
    Am I missing something?
Is the stock one different somehow?

Those liners can be kinda pesky. I have read that it may need to be stretched just a little to fit inside it. I hate teflon. I pulled mine out and installed brass and will never have to worry about it again. Done deal.

OMG! yeah.... I was missing something alright! I never even thought about that. I will give that a go.
      Thanks!

I'm thinking about how one would put brass in there?? Would you have to bend it to make it fit the curve?

I used 2 peices. First the motor end, as far as it will go willingly and then the prop side until it meets resistance. I used 3/16 brass for it and scuffed up the OD of the new tubes and JB welded them in. Be careful to make them as accurate as possible as not to bind the flex. This was not my first choice of a replacement but I didn't feel like totatlly re-doing the stuffing tube.

quick question ....i am still using the origenal flexshaft the right handed one lol....seems it likes to spit grease into the boat at the teflon tube opening at motor....will it still do that if i put the left handed flexshaft in? or will it always do that lol...just a rookie question lol

Maybe a little. Mine has a little splatter but that is easilly fixed. I have seen people on here cut a plastic bottle like a shroud and velcro in down as a sheild. Good idea I think.

That is why I have no Teflon liner. I kept the backwards cable in, and sooner or later.... Blat, and you have no more cable.
If you have the new one, I'd be putting it in. Save you the hassle I've had to go through. That little Teflon tube is a pain to put back in.
              Just my opinion tho!!!! :)

                Hey Hobie

I am working tonight if you want to drop by to get the parts we talked about last night. Then you
can install them and take it out for a Blast!
There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!

Ron, I have not tried one but the 642 will be faster.
